Praise for Aline Templeton's Marjory Fleming series : 'Loved it' Val McDermid on THE DARKNESS AND THE DEEP An unalloyed pleasure - an intelligent, character-driven crime novel. Andrew Taylor on COLD IN THE EARTH 'Skilfully plotted and well-paced ... This book is a delight, from its leisurely start to the moving and unexpected finish.' Guardian on THE DARKNESS AND THE DEEP 'Interesting, atmospheric and - I predict - televisual' Literary Review on THE DARKNESS AND THE DEEP 'It is always a pleasure to read Aline Templeton, but THE DARKNESS AND THE DEEP must surely be her best book to date. Aline's characters are so beautifully drawn ...' J Wallis Martin A compelling read. Margaret Yorke on COLD IN THE EARTH [Aline Templeton] has demonstrated that, just when we thought Scotland was saturated with detectives, a strong woman can elbow her way in and find a unique niche. Scotsman on COLD IN THE EARTH

A murdered girl haunts DI Marjory Fleming when she is asked to investigate a cold case, the shameful details of which her policeman father struggled to keep secret. Restless ghosts are brought back to life too when the T.V crew of popular crime series Playfairs Patch arrives in Galloway bringing excitement and disruption to the small market town. Actor Magnus Lindsay, son of the Polish World War Two fight pilot Ladislaw 'Laddy' Lazansky, opens Pandora's box when he confronts a fellow actor, his late father's mistress. Lindsay is not the only Pole who has come to the town to work. Tensions burn between the local youths and the incomers. The first stabbing is not fatal, but the next strike will be deadly... -- Dieser Text bezieht sich auf eine vergriffene oder nicht verfügbare Ausgabe dieses Titels.

Dead in the water 21. Juli 2014

I would give Dead in the Water a favorable review. Very worthy of reading. Having read several of the Marjory Fleming thrillers
I was familiar with the usual characters, which makes it a little. Easier to follow.. This book follows a simular plot as other Alone Templeton books and although that Isn't necessarily a bad thing it does in my opinion get a tad bit slow from time to time. That all being said I still enjoyed the book and would recommend this to all who enjoys a who done it set in Scottland.

This is the fifth in the Marjory Fleming British police procedural series. Like the others, it is well written with believable characters. The plot involves a cold case as well as present-day crimes and contemporary issues, and they are all cleverly interwoven. I will continue to read the rest of the series. If you enjoy writers such as Ann Cleeves and martin Edwards, I think you will enjoy these books.
A window into this area of the world 29. Juni 2014

As usual Templeton gives true insight into the people of the area she writes about. You feel that you are living there and experiencing the culture and not a hyped "James Bond" unrealistic view of the world. Engrossing!!!!
Another good novel in the DCI Fleming series 3. Juni 2014

Very solid mystery, some nice twists and turns, likeable characters. Templeton does a nice job of creating flawed characters you don't always totally like, but who create good drama.

My Likes About This Book
All my favorite characters are back to work in this one making for an always amusing read due to the comradeship between the series mainstays and well just their odd sense of humors.
Marjory Fleming Thrillers can be read as a series but they are written wonderfully as a stand alone read also. The author adds in a bit of dialogue so you know what you need to know that might have happened in past books in the series but it is not overwhelming which is excellent for those who chose to read these books as a series.
Another great twist in the plot! I didn’t have this one figured out at all not until it was revealed who killed who was then the mystery solved.
Glad Big Marge was able to look into the past to connect with her dad in her own way.

My Dislikes About This Book

I found the connection between Big Marge’s house helper, Karolina, and Kasper, a Polish troublemaker to be semi out of place in the story, but do not fret about this because later in the story your shown the connections and then you go “Oh, thats what thats all about.” So don’t not finish the book because of the confusion there is quite a connection in the end.
A couple of dry pats that seemed to run on a little longer than they needed to, in my opinion.
