4.0 von 5 Sternen fun with good all around survival info 24. November 2011
Von john washington - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch|Von Amazon bestätigter Kauf
First, i think it's unfair to give the book bad reviews due to unclear info when released. It stinks if people thought they were buying a new book when they ordered but, this book should be judged on what it is not by poor labeling or advertising. What is the book? A good deal. The first book ends kind of abruptly so it's fitting that both are together here. I usually have a.d.d when it comes to books and have to read several at a time but this one moved along at a good pace and I found I cruised through it. The author is talented and really knowledgeable, only other comment I'd have is that since it's in journal format there is little or no dialogue, something that really adds to a novel I think. Later on in the second novel, that changes and there's more, but a switch from Journal to omniscient narrator? would be great. Anyway, lots of good info, learned some about the military, weapons and procedures and had fun doing it. Good book, good deal.

4.0 von 5 Sternen enjoyable post-apocalyptic America horror tales 5. Oktober 2011
Von Harriet Klausner - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
"Day by Day Armageddon." He is stationed in San Antonio. As he starts a diary, he is unprepared for the Dead attacking cities around the world. The soldier must decide on survival of the deadest with his friend John as his only trusted ally.

"Day by Day Armageddon: Beyond Exile." He continues keeping his log having survived three months. With other humans he stays at the Hotel 23 where he fought against fellow breathers but suffers from PTSD. However, he must leave the relatively safety of Hotel 23 on a mission that will take months in which he doubts he will return as the zombie infestation has crippled the world.

"If You Can Read This..." Texas like the rest of the country is gone. Twins Brook and Eugene struggle with the deaths of their parents and younger brother, but take hope in a radio transmission they receive at the local fire station of a person claiming to be at Matagorda Island.

This is an omnibus reprinting of the first two Armageddon journals and a very short story. The novels employ a refreshing technique of a survivor in a post-apocalyptic America overrun by zombies. This diary technique is two edged as the audience sees what the hero encounters and knows his demons, but also the first person account is a filter for what others believe and somewhat passive especially when the protagonist muses. Still these are enjoyable horror tales that is summed up by Eugene in seven words when he says "If You Can Read This..."

5.0 von 5 Sternen STOP. Consider this is an omnibus of the first two novels 28. September 2011
Von Jeremy Y - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch|Von Amazon bestätigter Kauf
Personally, this story is the best zombie story I've ever read. I completely relate to our protagonist on so many levels, it's easy to imagine what this kind of world would be like when trying to make it with almost all the same skills.

That said, the description is vague. Wonderful Amazon let's us know when pre-orders are available but didn't well describe that this was a reprint of the first two books. (Which in itself awesome as I want this author to do well. Deserving, again, as it's a great series so far.)

Just buyer beware, this is not a new third novel. If you've never read this series before, get this particularly newer book.

As to the third, we'll just have to wait until the state gives Bourne a writing break from our ongoing wars before we see it.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Brilliant 25. August 2012
Von Chris Ferguson - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch|Von Amazon bestätigter Kauf
I don't know where to begin. Both of these books jam packed into one is an amazing offer. J.L Bourne has crafted such a compelling and realistic tale of an active Naval officer's day to day life as he survives the zombie apocalypse. The two books are very easy to read, as they are written as journal entries by the main character as a means to "deal" with all of the experiences he endures. I could easily see this as a t.v show or up on the Silver Screen. It reads like a movie and feels like you're right there in the book experiencing the same triumphs and disappointing downfalls that it's character endures. A highly recommended read coming from someone who couldn't put the book down at 2 a.m even though I had to be up for work at 6 a.m. Purchase the 2-in-1 combo, as it saves you money and the trouble of having to carry 2 books instead of 1 in case you finish the first and don't have the second on hand. Day by Day Armageddon: Origin to Exile is by far one of my favorite series of books and I cannot wait for Shattered Hourglass to come out this christmas season. GET IT NOW! BEFORE THEY COME!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Giving a different rating 3. Oktober 2011
Von Justhimself - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I'm changing my review to 5 star because the books really are amazing. If you are reading this review and have never read the books, I highly suggest you buy this book AFTER reading the reviews for Day by Day Armageddon and Day by Day Armageddon Beyond Exile. If you like the reviews of those books, then buy this one as it is those two combined (plus an additional short story).

I originally rated this book with 1 star because I was upset with the way it was presented originally. At the end of the day, it is still a really good book. The reviewers who are knocking the book down to 1 star because of marketing are not being fair. When I received the book I too was upset; however, after thinking about it I highly doubt the author would attempt to swindle us out of more money.

Its unfortunate that this book is getting a bad rep for the initial marketing.
