Sometimes a guy’s best angle is below the belt.

When David, a single father, vows to get laid just once before the year ends, he doesn’t figure on losing his cell phone—and with it one very revealing picture. Lucky for him, his phone is found by a disarmingly handsome man who might be perfect for the kind of casual Christmas fling David is after.

Go-go dancer Craig never would have guessed that the guy with the cute cock shot would turn out to be a doctor. Or that he’d find himself lying about his night job and worrying David will find out the truth. To complicate matters, each of their hook-ups requires days of planning. Yet before he knows it, Craig has a new boyfriend, and possibly a whole new family.

David’s ready to dive head-first into something new, but if Craig’s going to commit, he’ll need to come clean about his job, his past, and—most of all—the naughty picture that drew him to David in the first place.

Warning: Contains a male exotic dancer and extremely intimate photography. May contain traces of Zumba, bad roommates, and sad childhoods. Call your doctor if after six hours you still can’t get the grin off your face.

A Boy Meets Boy Review

FOUR HEARTS--My first load of Santa jizz and I'm in a great mood. No Christmas sugar induced coma either.

Why "David's Selfie" works for me?

It's not annoyingly sugar sweet where the Jizzmas spirit miraculously saves all the problems.

The author seems to have the same sense of humor as me. Funny is as funny does, I actually laughed at few scenes. (The first chapter with the crotch selfie? *snickers*) Oh, I like it when I share the same humor. (I'm saying this in my Stewie voice)

And this was realistic! The reactions, the characters and the plot - I buy it. I always root for the underdog MC, the MC that has to work for the life they have. Craig, the Masters student who works two jobs, is an ex-foster kid and never had a sweet life? He was a pleasure to read. The other MC, bisexual widower, David and his three-year-old, Maia, they were endearing and real too. Go figure, a toddler who acted her age instead of a miniature adult.

Told in alternating POV, this holiday novella starts with a crotch pic. How cool is that? A romance that starts with a lost cell phone and selfie...which grows into a HEA romance.

David is a doctor who should be at the prime of his life. He's only thirty. But he has a three year old and is already a widower. He is lonely and trying to get back into the dating game. So to try to entice potential suitors in this day and age, he takes a picture of his Johnson. In a comedy of errors, he loses his cell at a club. And the guy who he ogled but never thought he'd have a chance with, the hunky go-go boy, Craig finds the phone. And so begins their mating dance.

Craig was a nice guy. He proved to be more than a pretty face and hot body. He wanted substance and he finds that in David. Maybe not the built-in family with Maia (loved his reaction to her). He knows David would be worth it though in the beginning there are a few factors that work against them. They make it work, be it conflicting schedules, no available places to hook up, a wicked cold or not fully opening about their entire life. There is some "let-me-not-tell-what-I-really-do-for-a-living-since-you're-a-professional-and-I'm-not" aka "you're too good for me" but it wasn't heavy handed.

My issues: The story starts strong, ends rushed.

I think the 'I love you' bit also was premature. Maybe not on David's part as he's used to being in a relationship but Craig? The kid who couch surfed, has been kicked out at seventeen and lived in his own, has abandonment issues, never been in a relationship, is hard to crack (as he admits)...I expected more of an internal struggle from him. It's hard to go from being independent and not needing another person to opening up. Maybe that part is just me, I guess it could happen. I just question if it would truly be Craig's reaction.

And I love epilogues, love them. This wasn't really necessary. It also read rushed.

Overall a great story. Not too merry sweet, a little hurt /comfort, some laughs, hot sex, and a heavy dose of reality.

And the best part? The story is not a one trick pony that relied on the is way more than a d!ck pic. It's a happy romance, light low on the angst and relatable.

This is a sweet little holiday tale that doesn’t hit you over the head with the fact that it is a sweet little holiday tale. David is a single (bi) father. Widowed by his best friend few years ago, he had resigned himself to casual hookups until his daughter is ready to leave the house. Most single gay men don’t want to be saddled with a kid, right? Suffering from a bit of low self-esteem, he attempts to take a rather intimate self. Of course, if you are going to take such selfies and leave them on your phone, you should keep better hold of said phone… otherwise it just might lead to a love connection… err trouble.

I felt a little hit over the head with a few details, like the fact that David was Bi, but couldn’t see himself with another woman after his wife and best friend died. Or the fact that Craig is a go-go dancer who isn’t ashamed of what he does, but he won’t tell the successful doctor, David, about his night/weekend job. But we didn’t really get enough details about other things like why Craig hooked up with his jackass roommate in the first place. The sex (twice) while one partner was down with the flu was just a bit umm… much for me.

All those points aside, I did enjoy my time reading David’s Selfie. It wasn’t deep, and sometimes that is just what I need. As with many holiday romances, we have an insta-love scenario… but yeah, it is Christmas :)

My Review:
I liked this one. It was pretty short, but it was fun and entertaining and I really, really enjoyed the story line set-up on it.

David is bi-sexual. A year ago his wife died leaving him as a single parent to his three year old daughter. The two of them were together for a long time and he loved her. As a result, he hasn't had sex in a long time and although it's been years since he's been with a man, he needs a hook-up that doesn't remind him in any way of his wife. So via some online interactions he has a hook-up planned at a dance club, but when he gets a look at the leather daddy, he quickly changes his mind and in his rush to get out, drops his phone in the bathroom where go-go dancer Craig finds it.

Craig goes through the phone simply trying to find out who the owner is. He finds a very intriguing cock shot, but then everything else is photos of a precious little 3 year old girl. Craig is intrigued by both. I really liked Craig. He's looking for someone real to date and although he's gorgeous and fit, those are certainly not things that draw him to other guys. David is a dad and works long hours as a doctor...he has the physique that fits that lifestyle. But having been judged by his body alone way too much, Craig sees past all that. But that's also the issue...Craig has been judged by his go-go dancer profession way too much so he doesn't tell David about that. He just tells David about his studying for his Master's and his Zumba teaching/gym dreams...which are all true. They just don't tell everything about how Craig supports himself.

Craig is one of those characters that you can't help but fall in love with. He's had a hard life. In foster care at the age of five and although he stayed with the same foster family for years, they kicked him out when he told them he was gay. As a result, he spent several years on the street, barely scraping by. He panics when he thinks about being in that position again and he has several people in his life (i.e. his jerk of a roommate) who take advantage of him because of that vulnerability. And he's such a nice hurts to watch him be taken advantage of especially knowing that if David knew, he'd take care of him.

Like I said, I liked everything about this one. It was a great read and made me feel happier for having read it. If the story line appeals to you, I think you should grab it. I think you'll fall in love with David and Craig, too.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

David's Selfie begins with a hilarious scene as David tries to take a naughty picture per the request of the man he's trying to hook up with online. David is bi and a widower. Locked in the bathroom he tries to get the best view possible in the camera lens he is interrupted repeatedly by his 3-year-old daughter, who demands entry declaring that parents don't get privacy.

David finds out at the bar where he is to meet his online date that a leather daddy isn't his type, but the go-go dancer has caught his eye. Unfortunately, as he flees the bar to hide from the "date" he leaves his cell phone behind and Craig not only finds the phone but also finds a certain picture taken earlier in the day.

This is a plot-driven book with some of the best-developed characters I've seen. David is a doctor with a background of upper-middle-class childhood, acceptance of his bisexuality, the loss of his wife, and the precious young daughter whom he loves deeply. Craig has secrets in his background that eventually come out, but which are very painful to him. David must unearth the mysteries, past and present, that cause Craig to behave as he does before they can move forward with a relationship.

I am particularly partial to epilogues that work like crystal balls to tell us what happens after The End, and there is an especially good one to wrap up David's Selfie. A truly enjoyable story that will stay with you for a long time after you finish reading.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Fun and sexy MM romance 5. Dezember 2014

I liked David's Selfie more than I expected. The romance is happy and the characters are ones you'd be happy to know in real life. Although the relationship went zero to soulmate in record time (seems to happen a lot around the holidays) it doesn't come across as forced or slightly mental. Add in a bit of hot sex, a few shots of humor, and you've got a sweet, romantic story just in time for the Christmas (or whatever you celebrate) season.

The story centers on thirty year old widower David, a doctor with a three year old daughter and a barren wasteland of a lovelife. In a misguided attempt to land himself some tail, he takes a few selfies of his small head, and then later manages to lose his cell phone at a club. Fortunately for David, his phone is found by Craig, and his nether region selfies don't wind up going viral.

Craig is a stroking hot dancer who just happens to be studying for his Masters in between working the pole. During a break he discovers David's cell in the can, and what he finds convinces him to arrange a meet up with David. The two hit it off immediately, and although there are major differences between them and both come with a trolly's worth of baggage, things between them rapidly escalate.

Overall a fun and sexy MM romance with plenty of Christmas spirit.
