Set in 1890s Colorado, this is the first book in the Brides of Culdee Creek series. Abigail (Abby) Stanton has lost nearly everything important to her firt her husband and now more recently, her five-year-old son. Deciding she needs a place away from those memories she takes a job as a housekeeper for obstinate rancher Conor MacKay and as schoolteacher for his equally-as-difficult daughter, Beth. It's a good thing Abby hasn't lost her faith as she will need every ounce of it to deal with these two! I absolutely could not put this book down and can hardly wait to read book 2. Morgan is a gifted writer.

Thank you Kathleen Morgan. I was thrilled to find Daughter of Joy and Woman of Grace (book 2) on the shelves of my local christian bookstore. Kathleen Morgan is one of my favorite romance authors, and with this new series she has surpassed her past successes. As always her characters are so well developed you feel you know them intimately. They are very real with very real problems, and very real emotions. Bravo Kathleen! I am eagerly waiting for book 3 in the series.

A Christian based romance novel tells of two people confronted with tragic and grief in the past, trying not to lose their faith in God and deal with their mutual growing attraction to each other.
I found the last third of the story a bit too gushy, but apart from that, it was lovely to read, with a well thought out plot and a believable development of their characters, finding themselves and their way back to faith through all the obstacles life and other people throw at them.
I really enjoyed reading this and would not mind to read the sequel to this.

DAUGHTER OF JOY is a beautiful story of redemptive love. Abby's walk of faith, sometimes followed by sheer force of will alone, resonated in my heart. And Conor's painful journey back to the safe harbor of a loving and forgiving God brought me to tears. Thank you, Ms. Morgan, for such a memorable read.
