Its a mindblowing book with inspiring selection of cutting edge info design. Highly recommendable as source of inspration, but: I miss badly a good text which pulls it together. There is a manifesto-like preface with short sentences, which doesnt do the job for my taste. Higly erratic is the referencing, or to find out, what the graphs and displays are actualy talking about. The little explenatory texts, sort of captions, are nice but dont help often enough. A bibliography is missing totally, a compilation of websites does the job. But what really put me off is the problem of size and scaling: A good half of the examples is reduced in scale, and in 30 % of the cases it is reduced that much, that it is impossible to read the text anymore. So what is that supposed to tell us? Isnt it the combination of text & picture, which makes those sort of things so valuable? So: nice selection, fab examples, but badly edited. Sorry. It could be such a good book! Pitty.
