5.0 von 5 Sternen Full of Intrigue. 31. Dezember 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Loved this book, full of intrigue and twists and turns.

James has a unique style of captivating his audience. They say write what you know and as a former journalist James certainly does that, placing the plot in a newspaper room and working to a Deadline heightens suspense in this cracking novel.

Great characterisation throughout makes this a five star, must read, highly recommended.

Hold on to your seats for the ride of a lifetime.

5.0 von 5 Sternen "A Remarkable Debut - a real page-turner..." 1. März 2011
Von Joan Hall Hovey - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
A truly remarkable debut by this author. The novel has elements of romance, mystery, suspense, a father, daughter relationship gone awry, political corruption, all woven expertly together, to come together in a satisfying and exciting climax. Oh, - there's sex too. -:)

The story is mainly set in a big city newspaper office in Toronto, and this is a good example of a writer writing about what he knows, resulting in a believable setting that helps bring the story to life. I looked up his author page and see that Anderson has worked many years in journalism. It shows.

The 'Wolfman' , who is stalking and murdering professional women, is a frightening villain. The heroine is fiesty, definitely not your average damsel in distress. But we worry about her being so darned independent and stubborn. And we have reason to.

One of the reporters is a war correspondent in the middle east, and is in constant danger while gathering and filing stories to his editor back home. I'm not going to tell you anymore about that but again, truly evident that the author knows his stuff.

This one would make one heck of a movie. Where are the Canadian film makers?

I'm really looking forward to the next book.

Von Nash Black - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
DEADLINE by James A. Anderson is a powerful read for a first time author. He gives you a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes working of a major metropolitan newspaper with rapid fire insight into the lives of those whose job it is to put the news on the street.
Andrew Chase is the owner publisher of the Toronto Daily Express who is living his dream of publishing a daily, but is a falling market ready for his expectations.
Chase brings in Brendon Young from USA Today to turn the paper around and put it in the black, but are Brendon's efforts enough to bring the Express into the fold.
Katie Conon and Trevor Trevanian have the red hot stories of their careers, but will they live long enough to write them?
The story line moves from Toronto to Afghanistan with the speed of the Internet with slick prose and a polished plot.
Nash Black, author of CARDS OF DEATH.

4.0 von 5 Sternen THE LIVES OF NEWS GATHERERS AND THE NEWS THEY GATHER 23. März 2011
Von Su Co - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
This is a good combination of the lives of news gatherers and the news they gather. The story tells of the struggle in the lives of those trying to get their stories ready to meet the deadline to be printed in the newspaper while dealing with daily joys and stress. You feel the author knows his subject.

At first I didn't care for the story going back and forth in location and viewpoint but pretty soon it gripped me to the point where I didn't want to put it down. I was so glad that while there was violence and sex involved in the story, the author did not feel the need to resort to graphic description of sex and violence to keep the readers attention.

My only negative thought was that the dialog was a bit stilted. I am sure his next book will be even better and I look forward to reading it.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Easy, enjoyable read. 8. April 2013
Von Beary - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
I found this book to be an enjoyable easy read. It worked perfectly especially for a nice afternoon, beach or evening when I had a few hours. The different plot lines kept the story fresh and moving along without weighing it down with too many details. The author could have taken either or both plot lines further by adding more details/pages to the book. Would that have made it a better book? We don't know. One of the things that I liked most was the quick easy readability of this book. If I had wanted a book like War and Peace I wouldn't have bought this book. But I don't regret my purchase and am looking forward to the sequel and will definitely buy other books from this author.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great New Talent - An Assured Debut... 3. April 2011
Von Barry Crowther - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
This was a great debut by a new author. I read it on the Kindle and the formatting and narrative made it very easy to read. The story is really well paced and some of the (various) plot lines really had me on the edge of my seat.

I'm sure Mister Anderson's journalistic background helped him with some of the locations and stories within stories. A great read, I will surely buy the next installment. I would like to think the team will be back to solve more mysteries. I would have liked to have said more but I don't want to give the story of what happens away.

Highly absorbing and original.
