Finally: An Easy to Understand Book About the Curiosity Mission on Mars 18. August 2014
Von bob bruner - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Taschenbuch
Rod Pyle is an excellent author and researcher and is well-versed in the exploration of the planet Mars.

His latest book about the rover Curiosity is the best of the books just written on the subject. This is because
of his easy-to-understand writing style.

I ought to know since I have been collecting books about Mars since 1950- over 60 years- and have donated 420 items
going back to the year 1707 to the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. I read every one.

Content: Engaging Font used in printing book: Microscopic ... 7. August 2014
Von R RADHAKRISHNAN - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Taschenbuch
Engaging style, contains information that would otherwise not be easy to find.

Font used in printing book:

Microscopic - It will give you a headache due to eyestrain after 30 minutes. I suggest use of an eye loupe! - can't understand why the publisher/typesetter chooses to waste so much whitespace between lines that could have accommodated a larger, more readable font. It does not do justice to the author who has obviously taken a lot of trouble to do extensive research.
A great inside perspective without being too technical! 12. Oktober 2014
Von Jake O'Donnell - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Taschenbuch
This was a great read! I enjoyed the fairly detailed ongoing inside of JPL without it getting too technical. The more I read, the more I became amazed with the huge effort required to pull the whole thing off. The rationale behind curious things, such as the "sky crane", was explained to satisfaction for the reader. The book is also a PR plus for NASA as a federal agency. The book gets a big thumbs up from me.
Excellent book. Worth reading 1. Dezember 2014

Excellent book. Worth reading. Having said that... I would only note that Pyle is a reporter, and there are other books out there by the actual scientists and engineers from the Curiosity mission. So you can read about Pyle interviewing the engineers, or you can read the engineers and scientists themselves.
Excellent Book 21. November 2014

The book is an excellent inside look at the stunningly successful Mars Science Laboratory mission. Written with humor and attention to detail, the author makes the reader feel like part of the team at JPL. Highly recommended.
