This volume would make a perfect gift for any avid James Bond movie maven. At almost 500 pages, it is certainly comprehensive, including detailed information on major and minor actors, special effects, directors, complete credits for all the Bond films, famous quotes by Bond, and much more. The information is well researched and presented in a lively, enjoyable manner. In comparison with a standard film reference volume such as Ephraim Katz's Film Encyclopedia ( LJ 11/1/79), the Bond encyclopedia is more informative on many entries, e.g., for second directors and special effects directors. While bordering occasionally on the "fanzine," this probably belongs in most major film collections.

Steven Jay Rubin has been long underrated as a James Bond enthusiast and seeker of fact on the subject in my opinion. He has always gone to great lengths to obtain accurate information for his published writings.
If you are looking solely for photographs go elsewhere. If you want factual objective information based on exhausted research, this is the book for you. He does his homework.
I highly recommend this book.

The idea of this book is a great one. There is allot of good information. The problem is that the author puts his own personal opinions in it. It ruins it. After reading it, it sounded like the author had a personal vendatta against roger moore. The author comes across very bitter and ruins the great idea of the book. The author should have kept his opinions to himself. Forget this one. there are plenty of really good books about bond out there.

This is an excellent, well-organized collection of every 007 tidbit you could imagine! Mr. Rubin has gone to great lengths to include some very interesting bits of trivia, and also very good information about the series' actors, stuntmen, producers, and other crew from over the years. However, if you are not a diehard fan, most of the information in this book would be somewhat useless.
