There are plenty of good books on herbs, and some of them devote a chapter to essential oils, but there's nothing comparable to Worwood's work. Her premise is different from other herbalists--she believes that the most effective way to use herbs medicinally is by external application or inhalation. Both methods allow the essential oil to enter the bloodstream without passing through the digestive tract. Her grasp of basic physiology is somewhat confused, but there's nothing dangerous in her suggestions. (Worwood runs an aromatherapy clinic in England and conducts research on aromatherapy.) Her book prescribes oils for everything from basic first aid and treating common ailments to natural cosmetics and body care, fragrance for the home and office, and cooking with essential oils. This book covers a basic care kit of 10 oils. It covers these oils well and provides receipes covering many ailments and situations using just this kit. If you are just interested in getting your feet wet in aromatherapy this book is a good one to start with. However if you think you might be interested in going beyond the beginning phase, then this book will not take you there.

I wish I had read some reviews before I bought this book. With a title like (The Complete Book of.....) it is not that complete. It only lists your 10 basic oils and uses for them. So, if you are looking for more oils and more detail I suggest looking elsewhere. If you are a beginner this is a great starter book for you. Just be carefull and do your studying.

This book is truly packed with information. I use many of the recipes for gardening, health and home. Using her advice for garden pests, I finally got rid of whatever was eating my basil and my sunflowers.

This"complete" book on aromatherapy falls short
A good addition to your library but this "Complete" book falls short of it's title's objective; It excludes many essential oils and their applications in aromatherapy.

insufficient information on the oils themselves.
This is better than many popular works, but, in my opinion falls short in some areas.
