Wuthering Heights is Emily Bronte's wild, passionate tale of the intense and almost demonic love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, a foundling adopted by Catherine's father. After Mr Earnshaw's death, Heathcliff is bullied and humiliated by Catherine's brother Hindley and, wrongly believing that his love for Catherine is not reciprocated, he leaves Wuthering heights. When he returns years later as a wealthy man, he proceeds to exact a terrible revenge for his former miseries. Agnes Grey, Ann Bronte's deeply personal novel, is a trenchant expose of the frequently isolated, intellectually stagnant and emotionally starved conditions under which many governesses worked in the mid-nineteenth century. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall shows Ann Bronte's bold, naturalistic and passionate style. It is a powerful and sometimes violent novel of expectation, love, oppression, sin and betrayal. It portrays the disintegration of the marriage of Helen Huntingdon, the mysterious 'tenant' of the title, and her dissolute, alcoholic husband.

I have to admit that I was a little disappointed, when I took a closer look at this collection. Since the amazon.de title read "The Complete Bronte", I was excited to get ALL the novels in one book, but then I realized that there is one missing (Charlotte's "Shirley"). Too bad.

Ich habe das Buch noch nicht zu lesen begonnen. Das Problem: Es ist ein unglaublich dicker Schinken!
Wollte eigentlich nur eine bestimmte Novelle lesen, hab dann gesehen, dass diese Sammlung günstiger ist und habs dann gekauft.
Man kann es gerne zum Pressen von Herbstlaub verwenden, lesen kann man darin nur an einem Tisch sitzend. Da ich allerdings eher auf dem Weg in die Uni in überfülten UBahnen lese, ist das Format schlichtweg unpraktisch.
Naja, mein Fehler. Hätte auf die Maße oder die Seitenzahl achten müssen.
Inhaltlich kann ich leider noch nichts sagen. Die Form hält mich bisher noch vom Inhalt ab.

Great Book, Terrible Seller

I ordered this book on December 26th and received it on January 21st. On January 19th I emailed the seller and asked for an update on my order. The seller told me they would look into it. When I received it two days later, I assumed everything was OK. Much to my surprise, I got another email, requesting that I return the book when received since they had reordered it! Clearly the seller orders from a third party and has no knowledge of the status of its orders. Do not buy from this seller unless you like waiting weeks for a book which you may never get.
