"New Battlefronts: The Visual Guide" is a stunning addition to the pantheon of Star Wars literature. It is a visual companion to season two of the CGI imagined "Clone Wars." The book more or less chronologically follows the season. As with its season one predecessor, it starts and finishes with poetry set to iconoclastic imagery that plays off World War II style propaganda: "I remember a time . . . when Jedi were not . . . generals but peacekeepers." The book is a tour of the season's characters and situations. There's a spread on just about everybody including Senator Rush Clovis, Poggle the Lesser, the deserter Cut Lawquane, Dutchess Satine, Senator Bail Organa, the pirate Hondo Ohnaka and Aurra Sing. As with the show, the Mandalorian material is especially interesting. Each two page spread is a visually spectacular balance of on-screen summary combined with additional factoids. All in all, it is 128 oversized (11.2 x 11.2) pages of visual candy. For the padawan reader, "New Battlefronts" is a satisfying summary of the second season of Clone Wars.
