ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Denise Paré-Watson invites you into her world of the culinary arts. Her passion for food and nutrition was developed early in her life, whether it was helping her father tend his extensive garden, or helping to prepare nourishing meals with her mother in the French Canadian tradition.
Denise truly discovered her passion when she chose to enroll in a professional cooking program as her second career. Her time at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) allowed her to excel, with Denise earning highest honors and achieving President's List status in the Professional Cooking Program. She was awarded a scholarship to continue her education in her true culinary love - the pastry arts. Once again, her skill and her artistic flare became evident with her graduating as the highest achieving student in the Pastry Chef Program.
She built her expertise with roles in Alberta, Canada such as Pastry Chef at the prestigious Calgary Golf and Country Club and Chef-de-Partie at the Calgary Hyatt Regency Hotel. During that time, she prepared desserts for such dignitaries as former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien; former U.S. President Bill Clinton; numerous international corporate and political leaders; and distinctive desserts for Bocuse D'Or and Chaine de Rotisseurs elite fundraising dinners. As well, she was asked to be part of Culinary Team Alberta during the 2004 Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany, where the team distinguished itself by placing fifth in the world and coming back home to Canada with Gold and High Silver medals.
Denise has actively participated in numerous culinary activities that have promoted the growth of education in her profession including: serving as a board member for the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Baking and Pastry Arts Advisory Board, and as an Executive Board Member of the Alberta Pastry Chef Guild. She is an active member of the Canadian Culinary Federation (CCFCC). She continues this promotion of learning and sharing by networking with colleagues and student protégés, teaching customized cooking and baking classes and creating specialty Artisan jams, jellies,chutneys and spice blends.
Currently, Denise resides on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, where she manages her business, Urbnspice, and is an active food blogger (www.urbnspice.com) and food writer.

Those of you who follow my cookbook reviews know that it is a very hard thing to get a five-star review from me. Denise Paré-Watson hits every one of the marks with her latest, Chocolate Desserts Made Easy and Delicious - Cookies, Brownies & Squares. The book is very nicely formatted and features an interactive Table of Contents that interfaces with the Kindle Navigation menu correctly. It is patently obvious that Denise knows of what she writes as she shares her expertise with the reader in more than fifty recipes for various bites of chocolate heaven.

Denise presents recipes that range from Black & White Chocolate Chips to definitely drool-worthy Quadruple Chocolate Brownies (the picture alone of that one is enough to make me gain a pound!!) and not just one but two different recipes for Chocolate Wafers - the crisp thin kind you use for Chocolate Icebox Cake and the softer kind that you use for Ice Cream Sandwiches. Each and every recipe is accompanied by a thorough description, detailed directions and often suggestion for a number of variations, storage and so on. The book includes both standard and metric measurements as well as pictures of most items. This is, without a doubt, a chocolate cookie baking primer!

If you love chocolate, this book's for you.

Even more great chocolate recipes!! The recipes are simple to prepare, the ingredients easy to acquire and the results are excellent. The Buttertart Squares with Chocolate Chunks were my personal favourites. A family member described the Chocolate and Oat Cookies with Creamy Chocolate Filling as "delightful, light and fluffy". My neighbor requested the recipe for the Quadruple Chocolate Brownies. I'm looking forward to your next book.

5 stars to Volume 2 and an amazing collection of classic, timeless and unique recipes! This book is as Essential as chocolate!
Wonderful concise and detailed instructions, with tips and techniques that will turn us all into a professional.
There is a recipe for every craving you will have and they are all so well written and easy to follow! The results are perfection.
I immediately made the All-In-One Cocoa Brownie -OMG! Devine, delicious,and devoured!
Next, the black and white cookies which taste as good as they look-amazing! So excited about trying the rest!
After Volume 1,'Chocolate Desserts Made Easy and Delicious-Cakes' was 'consumed' in my house my clothes shrunk! It was SO worth it!

This book will be guilt free for all of us chocoholics because milk chocolate is a dairy product of course.
Furthermore, chocolate is a vegetable too, since it is made from cocoa beans; beans are veggies - 'nuff said!

Although I have not YET baked any of the chocolate desserts in this recipe book, I am impressed with its clarity. This gem has wonderful recipes with very specific instructions, tips and comments. It is well formatted and has a table of contents that works perfectly with my Kindle. I have downloaded many cookbooks to my Kindle, and I must call this one impressive!

This e-book lives up to the reputation of its predecessor! It again fits the title perfectly - Chocolate Desserts Made Easy and Delicious. After reading the whole book, I tried a few of the recipes. They were extremely easy to follow, clear, and concise. The ingredients are ones everyone has in their pantry or fridge. The results are outstanding. I love having the recipes on my Kindle and used one of them when visiting my grandchildren and family in Seattle. Baking with them is one of my favourite things to do. One tip - put a piece of clear plastic wrap over the Kindle when baking so that flour etc. doesn't get into the mechanism.
