Kurzbeschreibung

Kathleen Morgan's books for the general market have earned rave reviews and hooked thousands of romance fans. Her first inspirational series, Brides of Culdee Creek, has proven successful as well. Woman of Grace and Lady of Light each climbed the CBA Marketplace best-selling fiction list. This new release, Child of Promise, is the final book in the series.
Beth MacKay, the daughter of Culdee Creek's owner, returns home after completing medical school to take over the aging Doc Childress's practice. Reluctantly, her life and heart become entwined with that of Grand View's Episcopalian priest, Noah Starr. But Noah struggles with his faith and calling since his wife died and his daughter, Emily, was disabled with cerebral palsy due to the difficult birth.
When Beth becomes embroiled in a spousal abuse case between two of Noah's parishioners, she encourages the battered woman to leave her husband for her own safety. Noah cautions the woman to try to work things out, and when the abuse ends in tragedy, it's the last straw for the already-doubtful priest. Despondent and shaken, he announces his resignation to the church. Only with Beth's faith and love, and a little help from the community, can Noah find his way back to the life and calling God has always intended for him.

5.0 von 5 Sternen "...To do the will of God and receive what He has promised." 25. März 2002
Von Kay S. - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
FIRST: Although this book is 4th in a series, the story can be appreciated without first reading the other three. (However, the others are excellent also.)
INTRO: Each chapter of "Child of Promise" opens with a scripture, then weaves the story to illustrate the depth of the words that appear simple. In the first chapters, Beth has two great desires - to practice medicine and to become the wife of Noah Starr, the pastor of the local Episcopal church. When Noah marries another, Beth pursues a degree in medicine. Her time studying to be a doctor leaves her bitter, hardened and emotionally scarred. Upon her return home, circumstances put Noah, now widowed, and his disabled daughter in constant contact with Beth.
ANYONE WHO READS THIS BOOK IS IN FOR A SPECIAL BLESSING! While the story line appears to be the typical romance genre, the story is far from shallow, typical, or traditional. Kathleen Morgan, the author, goes past "happy ever after" to the reality of human nature and the relationship of each of us to God, as well as each other.
THEMES: This amazing historical novel addresses "hot topics" such as women in non-traditional careers, dual career families, domestic abuse, disabilities, etc. At the same time, it deals with ageless themes such as love, loss, and anger with God.
This book could be read as a study of church relations for everyone who is a member of the clergy, married to a member of the clergy, a leader in the church, a lay person, avoids church due to the hypocrites who attend or knows someone who goes to church. In other words, this is a must read for all.
Thanks again, Kathleen Morgan, for allowing yourself to be used by God for my benefit.

5.0 von 5 Sternen tied it all together nicely! 28. Juni 2011

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this series, but i was not sad that it was finished - well, not really.....i could have read more and more of this family but this book certainly left me happy knowing the story would have "continued on" - i got good closure! Kathleen Morgan has the uncanny ability to draw her readers in as if they were part of the story themselves, looking from the outside in. I have loved this series and plan to read many more of this author's books. Thanks, Kathleen!

5.0 von 5 Sternen LOVED these books!!! 21. Februar 2011

All of the Brides of Culdee Creek were such great books to read. I really enjoyed them! I'm a preacher's daughter and Christian fiction is one of my favorite types of books to read and these were all great.

I love how they took the period when things were so different from how our world is now, and reminds us all that the Lord is always there for us know matter what trials we are going through personally, and discusses His love and how unconditional it is.

Finished the Brides of culdee creek series today by Kathleen Morgan who has a way to put you into the story that you began to feel as if you are one of the characters and are struggling with the same issues.

Although all three of the first books were good this one I think is my favorite. Beth is trying her best to be female doctor in the early 1900's while Noah is struggling to be the priest that everyone expects him to be. It was wonderful to watch Beth's and Noah's relationship grow and blossom. This book deals a lot with forgiveness in your self as well as with others, it also deals with pride. You have a head strong doctor and a priest who is in charge of his flock. Both are suppose to help others but who do they turn to when they are the ones who need help? It brings in perspective that no one person is better then the other. You may have a different calling in your life then the person next to you but it doesn't mean that they won't experience trials and tribulations the same as you. It was also very well portrayed that God does hear our prayers but doesn't always answer them in the timing and way that we may want or expect them to be. It left me feeling hopeful and encouraged. As with all her other books this was a wonderful read. I am looking forward to starting the next series 'Heart of the Rockies'
