Instead of reading one book and hunting around for the most touching or uplifting passage, the Soup brigade of editors and writers scours the published world for brief excerpts, arranges them by category, and sells them by the kabillion.
The spoon-size stories in Chicken Soup for the Couple's Soul hit the spot and warm the heart. Take the case of Dame Margot Fonteyn, the legendary dancer. She fell madly for Latin lover Roberto Arias at 18 in 1937, but history flung them apart. He recourted her 14 years later, after he'd become Panama's ambassador to the UN. Five assassin's bullets crippled him, but not their romance: he watched from the wings in a stretcher as she took 43 curtain calls in Romeo and Juliet. "I feel it's rather a fair division," she said of their love. "He thinks. I move. You see, I love him." Another love-triumphing-over-paralysis chapter reprints the most stunning passage of Christopher Reeve's Still Me.
The cartoons aren't great, but many of the celebrity quotes in the book are, like this one from Ursula K. Le Guin: "Love doesn't just sit there, like a stone, it has to be made, like bread, remade all the time, made new." But one correction: the line "There is only one serious question ... how to make love stay" is from Tom Robbins, not "Tim Robbins." --Tim Appelo

I read Chicken Soup for the Couple's Soul. This is the book you want to read if you are looking to cry, laugh, and a lot of comfort and reassurance. If you are a real romantic like me I would definitly recommend reading this book. It tells stories about new beggings, old lovers, love that last forever, fate, destiny, and more. Some of my favorite love stories are the ones that last forever. It kind of gives me hope that I will find the right man some day and I will have the same kind of love that they talk about. Every story in the book touched my heart, whether it was a death story, lost love, or a reunion, I cried. Many people have read these books and have loved them. So if you have not discovered the Chicken Soup books, I recommend reading one. The thing that I love the most is that they have many different sayings that really make you think about things. One that is my favorite is from 1Cor. 13:2 - I may have all knowledge and understand all secrets, I may have all the faith needed to move mountians - but if I have no love, I am nothing. I think this has a lot of truth to it because nobody ever feels whole unless they are truly loved. This book is for anyone who's ever been in love, is in love now, or hopes to be in love in t the future. So if you want a good book to read with real stories, read Chicken soup for the Couple's Soul.

I just loved the positive, uplifting stories about relationships. You read about too many failed, destructive and disfunctional relationships elsewhere you begin to wonder if happy, loving marriages really do exist. Another book along this vein (and even better, I think) is The RoMANtic's Guide. It has hundreds of personal accounts of couples who are madly in love and what they do to express it. If you liked SHMILY, you'll love this book.

Good reading
I found this book very good reading with humor and tears. For any women who enjoyed this book or 'For a Women's Soul': I would also recommend 'Chocolate for a Women's Soul'.

The Couple's Soul..
This is the first Chicken Soup Book I have read, but I will definately read them all. I would love for my children to read the one for them.. Keep up the great work!

Great for the Heart
The greatest book you have ever read for the couple's heart. You'll fall in love all over again when you read it. You just can't get enough of it. I trully recommend it.
