It gives you insights and means to find out why some attempts to chance something succeed and others do not. There is a variety of concepts explained that help you to reflect upon the processes in you organisation and improve learning and the creation of knowledge. Illustrated with practical examples Kelly gives answers to the question "How do people learn to create good code?" He claims that documentation is rather a curse than a blessing. Not only for those who are to write it but also for the rest of the organisation. This is because the common arguments for documentation are based on several assumptions: - All knowledge can be written down - Writing and reading is the most effective way of transferring knowledge - Documentation is read and understood. Kelly uses the concept of 'ba': Spheres of knowledge that need to be combined to solve a problem: Business and IT-Knowledge. The software product then produces its own ba. Within its 'ba', knowledge never is something isolated and static. It is created in the loop of learning-change-innovation and back to learning again. Discovering that learning happens in several depths and continuously applying the loop in an agile, iterating way is the way to successfully improve you organisation.
