I am a big fan of this musical and have lots of recordings but this is one of my least favourites. The voices are mediocre and don't sound good together painfully obvious in Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats. Exceptions are Stephen Mo Hanan and Timothy Scott who are wonderful in Gus: the Theatre Cat/Growltiger + Growltiger's Last Stand/The Ballad of Billy McCaw and Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer respectively. The Ballad of Billy McCaw is of course not included but there is the aria instead (don't know why they don't change that on the track list). What annoys me most on this recording are Rum Tum Tugger (Terrence Mann) and Munkustrap (Harry Groener) their voices stand out in a bad way.
If one is not a fan of this musical I wouldn't recommend this CD. The Original London cast recording is much better, If someone is only interested in a Highlights version I suggest the Viennese Recording (= Deutsche Originalaufnahme) or if one can find it the Hungarian Recording (Macskák).
