Kurzbeschreibung
Absorbing account of the Bomber Command raid on Hitler's secret rocket weapon research station on the Baltic coast. 16 b/w photos.
Synopsis
Drawing on the memories of over 400 people involved, this is an account of the night Bomber Command attacked a research facility in Peenemunde, Germany; the site where Hitler's scientists were developing the V-1 and V-2 rockets. While the bombing "crept back" from its primary targets and caused civilian casualties, and with a cloudless sky the British bombers presented an easy target for the German night-fighters, the attack was deemed, on balance, a success and proved the worth of new Bomber Command tactics and technology.
