As enjoyable and informative as a truthful book on this subject can possibly be. 25. Juni 2014
Von R. Pauli - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
I have read this book very carefully, examined the drawings, and it is about as enjoyable and informative as a truthful book on this subject can possibly be.

It is titled an Introduction - because it is quite suitable for newly curious and young scholars - but it dives in pretty deep into concepts that benefit from simple drawings and charts and human characters and friendly explanations

People often ask what book would be a suitable first book on climate change - college text books are fine, but quite boring. There is plenty on the Internet, but so too are there deliberately deceptive web sites.

Titled introductory, this book goes into enough depth to be compelling to anyone. Any message that is all information and warning without solution is just a waste - Bauman makes a great great case for carbon tax or pricing carbon.

Check it out. Worthy and entertaining. Rare for books on this subject.

great book - surpassed my expectations 1. Juli 2014
Von Jack Auden - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I was anticipating this book for some time and I am glad to say it surpassed my expectations. I figured it would be like Bauman’s intro to economics, where I saw some stuff I already knew in a more understandable context. But this book actually tackles very difficult subjects, made more difficult by the massive misinformation we are fed by the media, and explain them in an intelligent, enlightening, and entertaining way. I can truly say that every chapter leaves me much more informed on the subject. I look forward to Bauman tackling more subjects tied to economics in the future.

Informative and entertaining...a must read for all 5. Juni 2014
Von Dolores, a teacher - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
If you're on board with "humans are causing climate change", this book is right up your alley. If you're a naysayer, this book may just convince you. Whether you believe we're at fault or not, this book is full of information about the science of global warming. And if you're at all interested in being a better citizen of the Earth, you'll find plenty of helpful recommendations here.

From someone who spent 4 years studying the science behind climate change, they do a great job explaining the basics. 14. Juli 2014
Von Luke Elder - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
At the beginning I was a little weary of the cartoons, but they quickly grew on me. From someone who spent 4 years studying the science behind climate change, I think they did a great job explaining the basics simply and in such a way that is approachable and easily digestible. There are some common jokes/themes/characters that pop up throughout the book that help tie the concepts together, which is nice. They also do a great job encouraging you to further research an idea or concept that they don’t explain in detail. I loved the ending where the authors mention that there are so many ways to deal with the issue of climate change and that anything you can dream up will help. It’s smart too (for them) to mention to pass the book along to a friend at the end – it will educate one more person, but also get the word for their book out more.

Overall I think the book is a great introduction to climate change for almost all ages, it’s a super quick read, and there are even some funny jokes in it to keep it light (I appreciate their attempts at not letting the content just be doomsday-esque).
Excellent light-hearted overview of a serious problem 15. Oktober 2014
Von JPilot - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
This is an excellent book that gives a light-hearted but too-real overview of the scientific, historical, political, and social aspects of the controversies surrounding climate change. The cartoons are skillfully drawn and emphasize the points in a memorable way, far better than technical jargon and equations.

Sure, you don't get a scientific explanation of what and why climate change happens, but most people don't want that. Besides, there's a multitude of books that cover that - this book can be read in one enjoyable afternoon, giving you a summary of the issues.

Climate change is a serious topic and this book treats it as such. It has plenty of opportunity to be cynical, such as when explaining the Tragedy of the Commons. But fortunately, the authors are hopeful that we can tackle the problem.
