"Carragher has just written one of the best player autobiographies you could read, typically a product of honesty and dedication. The Kop dreams of a "team of Carraghers". Journalists wouldn't mind a game full of them." (Jonathan Northcroft Sunday Times 2008-10-12)

"Top man, top memoirs... At last, an autobiography of Premier League standard... Many recent Premier League autobiographies have been pretty lame affairs, veering from the tedious (Michael Owen) to the defensive (Rio Ferdinand) via the utterly deluded (Ashley Cole). Hallelujah, then, for Jamie Carragher. The Liverpool defender is that rarest of things: a self-aware footballer with a genuine insight into the game he's playing, the nous to explain it clearly, and the honesty to say what he thinks... Carragher has clearly been itching to write this amusing, anecdote-packed biog, and he's never short of an opinion... it's this frankness that makes Carra compelling reading... Essential reading for Kopites, it should also be issued to any cynic who believes that footballers don't care as much about our game as the fans" (FourFourTwo 2008-10-01)

"Carragher's memoirs are every bit as forthright and single-minded as you would expect... Football fans have long since grown tired of reading players' autobiographies that have been watered down by club press officers or self censored by the player themselves and such books are literally not worth the paper they are written on. Carragher's clearly doesn't fall into this category and in actual fact it is a fantastic record of the career of a genuine Liverpool legend which is so well written it can be enjoyed by football fans no matter what their hue... Carra: My Autobiography is an outstanding piece of work which is befitting of an individual who is not afraid of expressing his own opinions" (Tony Barrett Liverpool Echo 2008-09-06)

"Startlingly forthright... his memoirs are a perfect gauge of his intelligence" (Paul Hayward The Guardian 2009-01-24)

"Carragher never gives anything but his all, ensuring that fans of every colour secretly agree with the Kop's ditty. Carra's uncomplicated persona is reflected in his playing style; this fine autobiography strengthens the belief that he is a football fan doing something he adores while enjoying the recognition of those he admires most." (Peter Sharkey Yorkshire Evening Post 2008-09-20)

Dezember 2008
Von Ian Acheson - Veröffentlicht auf

Being a Reds supporter for over 35 years now I grab every auto/biography I can of the players. This one is special as Carra gives a real honest assessment of the managers, teammates, opposing players and the traditions of Liverpool. Particularly loved his views on all the players bought by Houllier and benitez and how so many of them were poor purchases. To Benitez's credit he quickly fixes his mistakes by offloading his dud buys, unlike Houllier who kept them for too long, eg the African duds..

Well done Carra - may you continue to reign at the back for the Reds for another few years yet!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Carra Book Review 3. März 2010

This is a book that I have wanted for a few months. I really like Jamie Carragher as a player, and I am a Liverpool fan. I wanted to have an insiders' look at the Premiership and I look forward to seeing him play every week. I have also read Beckham's autobiography. I find Carra to be very down to earth. It is extremely funny in certain parts. It is a personal look at Carra's father, his family and who he is as a person. I also like the insight into English culture and European culture in general. I really like this book, and I recommend it for any age or gender that likes soccer and wants to play and think about it all the time! Thank you!

1.0 von 5 Sternen I could hardly let one of my best mates, David Thompson 12. Dezember 2014
Von LordRamble - Veröffentlicht auf
Jamie Carragher is a low class human being. An excerpt from his autobiography:

"When my leg was broken in an horrific tackle by Lucas Neill in September 2003, my mates were ready to hunt him down if I gave the go-ahead.

A few weeks later I received a phone call. “You won’t believe this, Jay. We’re in the Trafford Centre and Lucas Neill is walking straight towards us. What do you reckon?”

Did I really want Neill to take a crack? “There’s only one problem,” added the voice. “Little Davey Thommo is with him.”

That was that. I could hardly let one of my best mates, David Thompson, now a Blackburn player, become a witness to an assault. Besides he’d have recognised the attackers. The impromptu mission was aborted and I sent a text to Thommo telling him Neill should give him a hug of thanks.

As word got back to Blackburn about the near miss, or should that be hit, their coach Terry Darracott, a Scouser, appealed to one of my friends to call the boys off. I agreed."

For as long as I can remember, I have been a Liverpool fan - this autobiography is written by one of my favourite players (Jamie Carragher), and gives a fantastic insight from the inside of life as a Premier League player. His writing style matches his no nonsense playing style - telling it how it is. His opinions on the different managers over the years are particular enjoyable - comparing amongst others Dalglish, Houllier and Benitez.
Very enjoyable read - 5 stars in my humble opinion!! Highly recommended to football and non-football fans across the globe!!
