I didn't learn much new from this book since I was more than a week past the diagnosis before I got it and I had already read up a bit online about the condition. I read the whole thing in about an hour (or less) because it is very thin. Most of this information you could find by googling the topic and reading online, and this book was published in 2008 which makes it a little dated - it didn't discuss at all the supplements my vet gave me for this problem, also it is written from a British perspective although that wasn't a problem. The scientific descriptions were lighter weight than I was hoping for and if you are looking for answers most will probably be "unknown." It did give me comfort to buy it and read it to feel like I am doing all I can and it would be very nice as a loan from a vet when you first get the diagnosis - it is nothing I feel the need to keep as a reference book. The glossy photos and layout is beautifully done and it is well written, it is very reassuring that it is not an immediate death sentence. It does offer a glossary of terms that your vet might use with you.
