Careers in health administration continue to grow despite an overall downturn in the economy. This is a field that offers tremendous job opportunities across the spectrum of health care delivery and payment organizations. 101 Careers in Health Care Management is the only comprehensive guide to careers in health administration ranging from entry level management positions up to the most senior executive opportunities.

The guide provides prospective students with a clear picture of the integral role played by health care administrators in creating and sustaining the systems that allow clinicians to do their best work. It explains exactly what health care managers do and how these careers differ from other management jobs. The book covers educational requirements and opportunities, traditional and non-traditional career pathways, and helps students to assess whether they are temperamentally and intellectually suited to a career in health care management. Based on the most current data from the US Department of Labor and professional societies in health care management, the guide describes 101 careers in 14 different health care and related settings along with the responsibilities and duties of each. Additionally, the book includes numerous interviews with health administrators from entry level positions to CEOs to create more vivid portraits of potential careers.

I found this book helpful and gave good insight into day to day operations of many of the interviewees. If you are a college student or high school student or even looking to change careers, it is very helpful for the reader to learn how to get starting in that particular field. I would definitely recommend this book to those looking into health care careers.

Book was great! I really enjoyed reading all the different areas that healthcare management has to offer. As a new HC management graduate it was refreshing to read what aspects you can explore and what you would need to do in order to get there..

This book was helpful but not what I expected. I thought the book would have given careers "outside the box". Most of the careers where expected careers like CFO, COO, CEO, etc. The book talked about careers found in hospitals. In addition it seemed like many of the individuals they conducted interviews with were alumni of GWU. That is great that many of the students are successful professionals but would have like to seen more from students of other graduate programs. Overall this book should be purchase if your interested in become a successful Executive Manager/Administrator of a hospital.
