This book isn't all that pocket-sized, nor is it well indexed. It has mostly the same recipes found in the 'non-pocket sized' book. As a companion to the main guide, I don't see that this is worth the cost. As a stand-alone guide, it's not bad. I do question its effectiveness, though. There's less explanation of menu choices, but I give it 3 stars for lush photography and clear preparation directions.

What would have bumped it up to 5 stars? Editor/author take note: (1) Ways/means/tables that summarize how to make more meals fit in with this eating plan; (2) more snacks; (3) more clarity in the 'how to dine out' guide. I'm an easterner and don't recognize many of the restaurants or their menu recommendations. But this whole plan raises questions: Just what is with this notion that green bananas are 'resistant' starches? Should we go a step further and eat uncooked plantains? (and any of you who write a diet plan centered around plantains, I thought of it first and demand a percentage of the royalties! ;0)

I liked the sprinkling of success stories, but didn't get the sense this diet actually works well. Weight loss was modest and believable. The before and after pix did not impress with any appearance of fat loss. This is a lovely guide book, with tempting recipes and ideas. Do they work? I suspect they work about as well as any other concerted effort to lose a little weight. There are several weeks of menus, but I imagine the restrictions become as boring as those on most other diets after a month or so. Is this set worth the money? I don't believe so. It's just another entry in the 'get-rich-quick-on-the-weight-loss-craze-of-the-month' lottery. I'm not convinced the weight stays off or that people stay on this fad diet.

It might work with younger metabolisms, but then so will most any diet. For the over-40 or over-50 woman living on a weight loss plateau, I'd recommend something a bit more aggressive, such as the glycemic index (Zone) diet. Not an easy meal plan, it is very effective and easier to maintain in the long run.

I like this approach. I have started eating their recommended foods and I feel full and I lose weight. And, I feel healthy. Growing up, I learned that chocolate was wonderful in all it's forms. And, when you were out of chocolate, salty foods like chips with dips were great. Then, came spicy. Now, I'm learning about all those foods I thought were blah and how they can be quite delicious when you know how to prepare them. And, how carbs can be very healthy and tastey and healthy when you choose wisely.

My friend told me about this plan and I am so grateful. I am busy and on the go and don't always have time to cook, but the plan give me so many on the go options that I can easily fit into my schedule. The variety of items that are offered are also great. I have alreay lost 1.5 pounds within 2nd day and I am over 50. I look forward to getting my energy back. My best friend has decided to join me on the plan. The pocket guide is great and easy to use. The picutres are wonderful and really make you want to try the recipes so far they have been tasty and filling. The excerise outline is great as well.

Really helped me get back on track with the weight lose program they have. Foods are good and it's rare that you get up from hungary.
