Do not be fooled by the title, it's not a collection of songs from "Cabaret" nor is it a proper "best of" collection of Liza Minnelli's career. This "compilation" is a sampler of Liza Minnelli's career from the 70's, it includes many of her 70's hit songs like her funk/ rock edition of the classic "You're So Vain" and a proper rendition of another classic "Son Of A Preacher Man". Even though it's not a compilation of her "Cabaret" medley it does contain a live recording of "Cabaret", "Cabaret" is a great example of just how great a live performer miss Minnelli is. Liza Minnelli has a great ability to turn a cover song into her very own "Dancing In The Moonlight" and "You're The Sunshine Of My Life" are two great examples of just that, especially her rendition of "Dancing In The Moonligh" is awfully appealing. The 70's were the hightlight of Liza Minnelli's career, in 1972 she starred in the Oscar winning picture "Cabaret" which actually brought home 8 Academy awards inc. an award for best actress to Liza. 1972 was a very busy year for Liza, beside her Cabaret movie she also launched her own One Woman Show called "Liza With A Z" which was a live performance, and display of Liza Minnellis pure talents. Liza With A "Z" won a Tony, making it the second Tony for Liza, the first she won for her performance in "Flora, The Red Menace". By 1977 Liza had won an Oscar, two Tony's, a Grammy, and she won her third Tony award for her Broadway show called "The Act" which ran for 8 months and 233 performances.
Many fans say that the 70's were the peak of her career and they're absolutely right, besides her One Woman Shows and Cabaret she starred in another great picture called "New York, New York" the film that launched one of her theme songs and concert endings. Now, This "compilation" is a great way to start for any curious souls that wants to explore the "LIZA" legend a bit closer, Go ahead jump right ind and be captured.
