My mother-in-law told me this is the book she read when she was expecting my husband - she jokes that my husband is such a funny person because she had to laugh so much reading this book back then during pregnancy! With such a high expectation of the level of humor I began reading the book and was quite disappointed. The contained humor was somehow overshadowed by the overpowering and "ever present" description of the father. Only toward his death (and the end of the book) did he seem more sypathetic (and therefore also that part of the book) and "humble". The mother, Lillian, seems to be his close companion but still she is underrepresented, while Frank seems to be the children's superstar. I believe the book was written with much love and humor but the "overpowering" father just did the job to spoil it for me. Too bad. Still, I'm sure others could enjoy it very much.

I really liked this book cause if i ever had that many kids i might go crazy. HAHA! well I read it about a year ago and couldn't put it down till I was finished it ended really weird but the kids who wrote were acutally writing it from their memories, friends, and relatives. I know Frank was only about 8 years old when the story started and when his dad died he was 10 years. I really recomand this book to any kid in the high school grade level cause it will have alot of hard words for the younger kids.
