Kurzbeschreibung

Summary of Thomas Piketty's book. In the U.S., the median incomes have been stagnant for almost 40 years, whereas the top 1 percent of the population have drastically increased their share in total income. In his book, Thomas Piketty explains issues of income concentration and provides an analysis of capitalism and a general theory of capitalism. Piketty demonstrates that the rising inequality is essential part of the nature of modern capitalism.

1.0 von 5 Sternen Clumsy, ungrammatical summary 18. August 2014
Von A. Howell - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
Riddled with grammatical errors and poorly structured, this summary is a farcical effort. I'm guessing the author is a non-native speaker who lacked an editor. Alas, no shortcuts here; anyone who wants to get Pikkety's ideas had best plod through the original.

This recap of Piketty's new book appears to have been written by a slacker high school student the night before the assignment was due. Poor grammar, confused thinking, mis-statements ... Not worth the time to scan it.

This book is a travesty. And to whom should I complain? There is no author or translator listed, not even an address for the publisher. Not only is the book filled with grammatical and syntax errors, but the interpretation and conclusions drawn are highly questionable. If I were Thomas Piketty, I would be furious.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Very helpful 22. August 2014

I needed to read the book for a class but since I do not have time to slog through it, I decided to see if the summary would help. I almost did not get this summary because of a bad review but after previewing a free sample of the beginning of the summary, I decided to go ahead and get it. I did not see any bad grammar. It summed up all the main points of the book quite nicely and I saved myself a lot of time

5.0 von 5 Sternen A Lifesaver! Makes Complex Ideas Easy to Grasp 1. September 2014
Von Norma D - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
A truly useful and easy to understand guide to the key ideas of economist Thomas Piketty, this summary is one of the best I've used at boiling down complex and often confusing concepts to the most important key points. It takes economic research and theories and breaks them down in such a way that my understanding was deepened and I was able to better grasp the most salient facts and theories of the original book.

The context of Piketty's work and where it fits into the history of economic research is covered so that I was able to understand where it fit into the theories of other economists and how it relates to the work of others. The author uses short numbered lists and bullet points to simplify the original, which is over 900 pages long and can frankly be overwhelming. The guide is broken down by chapter, so that it is easy to navigate and it is easy to find a particular topic immediately.

The original "Capital in the 21st Century" is so dense and filled with data that even starting it can be a daunting task. This guide was a lifesaver...I used it in conjunction with the original and when I was confused about something, used it for clarification. Anyone who is assigned "Capital in the 21st Century" for a class or who wants to understand its key concepts without having to devote days to reading will find this guide extremely useful.
