A Brown & Sharpe Catalog Collection, 1868 to 1899

If you're a collector of early Brown & Sharpe machinist's tools this book is a must have--you can't tell the players without a program. The very early catalogs are scarce and expenisve and this volume puts three of the earliest in your hands.
The book would be even better if it contained more editorial material, such as photos of surviving examples, first and last production dates for various tools, variations during production life, etc. The book, however, is pretty much a reproduction of the three catalogs plus a brief introductory essay. But it does that very well.
My only complaint: Sometimes the catalog descriptions refer another page in the catalog which is not contained in the book, and I found the book page numbers and individual catalog page numbers confusing. But this is a minor flaw in an excellent reference.
Brown & Sharpe collectors will keep this on the nightstand for a good long while.
