After a tumultuous year, Sophie Scaife’s relationship with her boyfriend and Dom, billionaire media mogul Neil Elwood, is hotter and happier than ever. His sizzling Dominant side pushes Sophie to new and challenging heights of submission and erotic exploration as she follows her Sir’s every whim. But with his daughter’s impending wedding and a milestone birthday turning Neil’s thoughts toward settling down, Sophie faces a much different future than she’d planned.

Caught in a conflict between her new wealth and her desire for independence, Sophie fears she’s becoming just another Fifth Avenue trophy wife. With her fashion journalism career over and her new effort as a writer uninspiring, Sophie has to work harder than ever to prove her intentions to Neil’s family and friends.

Sophie isn’t the only one struggling to adapt to her new lifestyle. When private jets and designer labels threaten her bond with Holli, Sophie finds herself walking a fine line between the world she now inhabits and the past—and people—she fears she’s left behind. After a shocking revelation divides her loyalties, Sophie is in danger of losing her best friend or fracturing the trust of the man she loves.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Good. But no where near what Abigail is capable of. 12. April 2014
Von Penny Dreadful - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
I gave this book a 3 soley for the writing and because I do think Abigail is a good writer. In the first two books, she wrote a strong storyline with equally strong characters. I found Sophie incredibly endearing, intelligent and her personality stood out from a lot of the female leads in this genre. I told someone I believe if it had came out before FSOG and had been tweaked a bit for a mainstream audience (namely the age difference and for some, Neil's bisexuality) I think it would have been the love story to read. Book 2 was that damn good. But, unfortunately, the Bride was immensely disappointing for me. The Girlfriend stood out to me because it as such a true human story. As magical as Neil and Sophie were - him a billionaire, handsome, sexually gifted, well endowed 49 year old. Sophie a 24 year-old with the maturity of a woman her age - the story showed that they are susceptible to the complications and unfairness of life just like the rest of us. It showed that money doesn't innoculate you from sickness. Even the fortunate can be unfortunate at times. It showed Sophie's strength. Neil's will to fight for his life even though he had no reason to hope. The story was about life and unconditional love. But in The Bride, there was no message. There was a glimmer of something during Emma's wedding - the forging of this new unconventional family. Still, it was superficial, just a glossing over. Nothing to make me think. I would have liked the animosity between Valerie and Sophie to not be so typically antagonistic. Sophie's fight with Holli was infuriating and immature. There was not one solid plot, just them jumping from trivial instances to another. After reading The Girlfriend, it was hard to get into a bunch of trivial, drawn out storylines. I still cannot believe the story is being stretched into a fourth book. I'm the first to admit that when I love a book, I don't want to let go of the characters. But we have to let them go. We have to see them off and hope that they live a long fruitful life. When the writer continues, there is a potential for fatigue and I'm fearful that this will happen with Sophie and Neil. I became bored midway through, but continued out of loyalty to them. Also, I can't believe I'm saying this, but it was way too much sex. I found myself skimming entire scenes just to get back to the story. I will buy book 4 because I enjoy Abigail's writing. But I'm praying that she goes back to committing herself to storytelling rather than putting a few timid plotlines together. The Bride in my opinion took a lot of wind out of what made The Girlfriend so exceptional. Hopefully the long wait fpr book 4 means that Abigail will be recommitting herself to writing a book that will meet the high expectations I know she's capable of.

Liked it, I really do enjoy this couple. I thought this book was going to be about them getting married by the title, but it was not!! I have been reading this series since the first book and truly love it, but very disappointed that we have to end each book on a Cliffhanger and wait so.....long until the next book, I am done so done with this series, by the time it comes out Spring 2015 I will have to reread the series again to refresh myself on the series, it is not that I do
not like it, I do love these characters very much, it is the long wait.,so this reviewer is done with waiting!!

2.0 von 5 Sternen Too drawn out 16. Mai 2014

The first book was good. The second was okay. But, this book; however, was hard to get through. I found myself having to skip through lavish, not to mention, pretentious explanations of homes. Granite counter tops are out now? Huh? And the drug use could have been alleviated. No matter how well you build up a character as wealthy, as soon as you describe him smoking pot, it places Neil at a very white trash level. And the woman in the book named Deja. Deja...I couldn't wrap my head around such a bad name. Her girlfriend, Holli, was even worse. A world famous model who acts like a hippified hillbilly. Although the book is fiction, I found it hard to believe with all the pretentiousness. An 83 million dollar house, a huge castle in London, A one hundred thousand dollar handbag, private jet. Come on. And the sex scenes were so long that I would skip over them because I got tired of reading about a fifty year old man having sex with a woman the same age as his daughter. It got to the point that I had to skim through all the pretentiousness and eye rolling just to hurry up and finish.

This series, you guys. It's so hot. It's so hot, and so well written, and so HOT, and so glorious.
I picked up The Boss (book 1) shortly after it came out last year, and I was totally hooked. Then I was smacked in the face with book 2 (The Girlfriend) and I was FREAKING out wanting book 3. Well, this seems to be a pattern. I thought it was aaaall wrapping up in book 3, but nope. There is still more to come. And unfortunately, we are in for a bit of a wait with this one.

But back to The Bride.
GOD, I love this series.

'He growled appreciatively, his hands bracketing my stretched neck. "Touch yourself while I'm f***ing your throat."

Smoking hot filthy sex, funny, emotional, exceptionally well written, unique story, amazing characters, dirty dirty debauchery.
I think this is the steamiest of the books so far (and that is really saying something, because this is a MOLTEN hot series)
Panty ruining perfection.
Love it. Live it. Get it.
I will be over here chewing my hand off waiting for book 4.

I loved both :The Boss" and "The Girlfriend" and read those entire books in one day. But this one I had a problem finishing. There was no plot, besides Emma's wedding, and it was all over the place. Holli and Sophie had the most childish of fights and it really took that long to forgive each other for it? And it was so devastating for Sophie that she forgot about it for like, 1/4 of the book? Also, Valerie was complete OOC. The fight in the bathroom was straight out of Mean Girls and every other high school encounter that I found it hard to believe Valerie would even act like that. Deja knowing Gabriela just seemed way too convenient a solution to solve the Holli/Sophie fight. But as always I loved Neil and I loved Emma, who remained pretty much the same in this book.

The Birkin bag incident was the one I couldn't really get over. Neil has lavished Sophie with more expensive items and has never had a problem with money, but she flips out and thinks Neil would hate her for a 100k bag? Why, in that one instant, did she forget her honesty thing?

I also don't want to get flamed for this, because I'm all for feminism and I think we need it, but parts of this book seemed like a Social Justice Warrior's paint by numbers guide. I don't know why. I just got the feeling from while reading it, and I hated it. Sophie is such a well developed independent woman, but she just seemed so not like herself at times.

The writing was lovely, as always, though there was way too much described to me. I can look up the settings on Google. Overall I liked the book, but the first two were much better.
