Having read a rather similar recipe book at a friends I was happy and exited to get Mrs Miles book as a gift. On a plus side is that she gives a vast introduction and overview over ingredients, tools etc. Another plus is that she uses all three big measuring systems, so everybody should feel comfortable with one or the other. Unfortunately I got the feeling (after having tried five different recipes) that Mrs Miles has not used her ideas in real life or that someone did an horrible job with proof reading and editing. There is not one recipe I tried where the amount of flour, butter and sugar adds up to a well tasting cookie or cake. I am an experienced baker and have baked recipes from the UK, the States and Australia - so I do not think, it was the different measuring systems or the ingredients. I do not recommend this book and I will most definitely not use it again.
