The concept of BODY MIND BALANCING is that our thoughts and ideas have been trained to be one way, while our bodies operate naturally, which generally puts the two at odds. The harder you try to force them together, the more they fight each other. This book hopes to help you find a way to balance them, so that you can function at your highest level mentally, physically, and emotionally. It only follows naturally that if each person could reach their best level, the world as a whole would be better.

This book requires that you keep an open mind. I also found that you have to be willing to take the author with a large grain of salt. There are times when he seems to be overly impressed with his own intelligence and message. He seems to have some issues with major religions in general. Also, not all of his ideas are completely real world practical.

If you can get past those things you'll find that the author makes some very good points in this book. Many of them seem so simple and obvious it's hard to imagine that we don't automatically behave that way. I especially liked the idea/realization that your body knows what it wants and when it wants it. To give it different things when it doesn't want them seems absurd, yet we all do it every day.

Included with the book is a meditation CD. I'm not sure I can review it for you. All guided meditation attempts seem to put me to sleep. Unless it was actually just a really deep state of meditation, in which case, it worked!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Extremely helpful for support in a health crisis 1. Dezember 2005

For 4 months I was going though a health crisis, which could not be identified by the doctors and left me drained, exhausted and very worried. A friend handed me this wonderful book with a guided meditation by Anando Hershley.

I started my mornings with relaxing in bed and go into the process of 'The Forgotten language of talking to my body'.

This is a wonderful process invented by Osho to connect with the sub-conciousness

here called 'The Guardian' and to allow the body to take over its own healing process.

It connects the healing processes of the body with the mind and spirit. This process worked for me and I highly recommend it.

An excellent book! It is a compilation of parts of Osho's talks. People of today have got out of touch with their own body. Even donkeys know what to eat, what their body needs, what is good for them, but man does not? Osho talks of regaining that intuition, getting friendly with the body, listening to it. Most other books and teachers just give blind rules to follow: eat this, and don't eat that, do so and so, and don't do so and so. But Osho talks of "listening" to our body, so that we naturally and spontaneously know what the body needs. The feeling that comes is something to experience.
The CD included with this book is one of Osho's Meditative Therapies. I did it after having gone through his active meditations. And I have a *personal opinion* that it will work better after trying active meditations for a while.
He answers many questions, about food, health, relaxation...
An amazing and incomparable book..

3.0 von 5 Sternen "The Body is a Miracle" 1. September 2011

Body Mind Balancing is common knowledge but Osho uses funny everyday life examples to demonstrate where our busy world causes tension and health issues in the body. "Do not fight your body, it is not your foe.". Unlike most other spiritual texts, Osho tells us to celebrate our body, celebrate its natural responses (sleep, sex, rest, anger). It is in our quest to negate or dominate that we create mental and physcial tension.

Our fitness, surgery and body contortion obsessed western culture constantly tells us to do something to our body instead allowing our body to relax and find its own natural rhythm.

Osho reminds us to meditate and listen to the body when identifying the many illnesses that start in the mind, thus resisting the body.

I have struggled with digestive issues, stress headaches and panic attacks. I am witness on how meditation, relaxing and not taking on any additional projects has helped me to ameliorate and soon obliterate my health issues.

Osho's suggestions are to basically go inward, be honest and relax. Three simple steps but often complicated by our self-induced stress filled "responsibilities".

The book I just recently finished is titled "Body Mind Balancing" written by OSHO. I've been seeking ways to establish my inter-peace for quite some time so, I started studying and practicing Zen, and I read this book. The book is written to give guidance on how one should get to know their body and how to be good to the body. Osho develops a relationship with the reader in chapter one as he recalls the way "Western medical science views man as a separate unit (body and soul) and by doing this have committed a grave error" (Osho 2003). He addresses this to show a conflict in how we are created and how we are taught we are created particularly by Western scientist. Osho explains "we are not a separate unit instead our body and soul are indivisible as living human beings, and we must acknowledge this when dealing with the whole person concept" (OSHO 2003). When explaining how unique, complex and magnificent a creation the he body is he delivers a message of responsibility for us to take care of our body and mind in the best ways possible. Start by getting to know our body by purging ourselves of all the intoxicants we often collect along the paths we choose. He is able to walk you through the different stages of how to recognize what you need to change and suggest ways in making those changes. The chapters of the book are well written and structured were transition from one subject to another is easy to follow. Osho topics are organized and have stimulating information that keeps the reader interested. He also displays a subtle way in getting you to see his point. I recommend this book to anyone who is seeking ideas and information on improving their way of living, it will not only motivate you to change your physical actions but also the way you think and view things. "Body Mind Balancing" teach us to enrich our lives not only for nurturing our mind and body but for nourishment of the soul. Being able to better ourselves satisfies the innate desire we all have....self-improvement. Remember, Zen is not a religion but a philosophy that encourages us to be good natured in order to make a better humanity and the only way to do this are to have "Mind Body balancing". Mind Body balancing confronts contradictions in our thoughts about our traditions, religions, politics, social status, race, nationality, origin, sexuality, and even who and what we are taught to be. How many times have you heard someone they need balance in their life? How many times have you said "I need balance in my life"? If you are seeking ways and ideas to achieve this, read "Body Mind Balancing" by Osho.
