Kurzbeschreibung

Why You Should Read This Book!

If you have ever been interested in the fascinating world of body language and human behaviour, then this book is for you. Craig James Baxter has developed this useful, practical guide which will help you to become more adept at interpreting the gestures and behaviour of others. It will also help you to improve and refine your own body language to enable you to experience greater success both at work and in your relationships with others.

Craig will show you the importance of establishing baseline behaviours in the person whose body language you are observing so that you can be aware of when they are experiencing issues. He educates you on how to avoid certain pitfalls when reading body language and highlights how there are many surprising cultural differences that exist when analysing gestures. Through the use of case studies, Craig shows you how you can read the non-verbal behaviour of others in order to establish the truth in certain difficult situations.

Whether you are a student or just want to learn more about human behaviour, there is something in this book for everyone.

This is the second book by Craig James Baxter - his first, Behind The Mask: What Michael Jackson's Body Language Told The World, was an international number 1 bestseller in its category on Amazon in the UK, USA, France, Germany and Italy.

What The Experts Are Saying!

"Craig Baxter's new book 'Unmasked: A Revealing Look At The Fascinating World Of Body Language' is a quick read on body language. It is for anyone interested in what our bodies reveal, dispelling some of the myths about nonverbals that many have come to believe but are totally false. Worth the read and well worth your time." (Joe Navarro author of the International Bestseller, What Every Body is Saying.)

"Craig's newest book on body language is a must-read. I especially enjoyed the section on body language myths. You may think you are "reading" someone correctly but if you don't have this information, you could be making a mistake. Craig writes in an easy-to-understand manner and most importantly he gives excellent examples so you can apply what you learn right away."  (Beverly Flaxington, Bestselling and Gold-award winning author of Understanding Other People: The Five Secrets to Human Behavior.)

5.0 von 5 Sternen Another 5 Star Book for Craig J. Baxter 24. Mai 2013
Von iluvdepp - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
Craig J. Baxter's newest book Unmasked: A Revealing Look at the Fascinating World of Body Language is an amazing look into the science of non-verbal communication/ body language. His previous book, "Behind The Mask: What Michael Jackson's Body Language Told The World" a wonderful, truthful book on Michael Jackson was a # 1 bestseller. This book takes this fascinating science to a another level whereby Mr. Baxter focuses on things the layperson may not be able to distinguish when reading body language. Touching, facial expression, voice, personal space are all parts of this science and he takes each of these sub headings and dissects them one by one to make it easier for the novice to understand.

Mr. Baxter basically takes us on as students and educates us how to pick up on the small gestures that are so important in reading someone's body language. The chapter that I found very interesting and informative was where case studies are used to assist in determining how our words say one thing while our bodies are communicating something totally different. I believe by using these case studies, which were real life scenarios allow us, as readers, to analyze each of them and apply the information you have learned from prior chapters to become confident in reading non verbal communication. The last part of this chapter also takes you through the interview process and gives 5 important steps on how to assist in making it easier to feel comfortable and confident taking you one step closer to that new job.

Unmasked: A Revealing Look at the Fascinating World of Body Language is exactly what the title says.... a fascinating and wonderful learning experience into the world of body language. I highly recommend this easy to read book to any body language novice who would really like to delve into the realm of non verbal communication and Mr. Baxter takes us step by step into his world as a body language expert.

5.0 von 5 Sternen A Very Helpful Guide 29. April 2013
Von Neysa C. Smith - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is a brilliant follow-up to "Behind the Mask, What Michael Jackson's Body Language Told the World". I apologize for not properly underlining the title to that book, buy my computer is being uncooperative at the moment. That book led me into the curious realm of interpreting body language. I had watched Mr. Baxter's videos where he analyzes the body language of people being interviewed, most notably for me, Michael Jackson. The moment I saw those, I was hooked. I wanted to learn more. The book he wrote, which I mentioned above, brought to written form his analysis of the videos. This allowed me to revisit those interviews and review them using the book as a textbook. I was able to highlight various terms and make notes for reference.
This book takes the previous book one step further. Whereas the previous one had referred to specific videos and helped the reader understand basic fundamentals, this book is like an intermediate text, where we are invited to ease our way into using the terms, the methodology, and our new-found confidence in our daily life. We've been given the basic knowledge in a very easy-to-read format with plenty of guidance and examples. We're now invited to take what we've learned and apply it.
One chapter in this book stood out for me above all else, and that was chapter 5, which dealt with case studies. This is where the teachings of the four previous chapters are brought to the real world. By reading through the three case studies presented, we are able to see how important body language is in aiding (or hindering, as the case may be) communication between people. Of the three scenarios, the third had the most meaning for me. I am in the process of interviewing for a new teaching position, and the third case study dealt with interviewing. This, to me and I'm sure most everyone else, is a moment filled with trepidation for the person who hopes to present themselves in such a way that will gain them employment. Mr. Baxter hearkens us back to what we've learned so far, and reminds us that we can use these tools to our advantage if we're careful and patient. This book is invaluable for that information alone. Each person who's sitting anxiously in a lobby or waiting room before an interview should have it at their fingertips to pull out and put their nerves at ease.
I believe this book will provide everyone who reads it with invaluable information that can be used to make each day's interactions with others easier, and life as a whole less stressful. I recommend it to everyone without hesitation.

5.0 von 5 Sternen a thoroughly worthwhile read 23. April 2013
Von Teddy2009 - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
As a psychology student, I found this look at human behaviour to be both informative and very useful. I was fascinated to learn about the cultural differences that exist across the world in terms of gestures, and I am now more acutely aware of how to consciously alter my own body language in order to be more successful in certain everyday situations. After reading this book, I now have a much clearer understanding of the many pitfalls and myths that exist in terms of reading body language, some of which surprised me. Craig has managed to encapsulate his ten years of study into human behaviour within one succinct yet detailed book. I would highly recommend this book; it is written in an easy-to-read and accessible style and has something to offer for anyone who has an interest in becoming more adept at both reading the body language of others and improving their own.

I borrowed this from the library and I was not disappointed. I had read and thoroughly enjoyed Behind the Mask and have been keenly awaiting this new book from Craig.

Please don't expect too much from this free book....more like common sense to me. In the beginning, I seem to recall the author keeps saying, this will be discussed in detail in later chapters... But where is it? You can finish reading this in one sitting. I'm disappointed...if he can see me writing this review, he'll notice my frown.
