I just received my copy of Blunt Force Trauma, via the Amazon.UK site. Needless to say, I no longer need a Christmas, seeing as this is one of the coolest things I have ever owned. Lee Whitehead did an amazing job documenting the life and fighters of Mixed Martial Arts.
The photos are detailed, gritty, real and inspiring - giving everyone a glimpse into what makes MMA so intense ... and so flippin' wonderful. Fighters are captured in all stages of the training, fighting, winning and losing - making these guys (and girls) more real. Between the photos and commentary I learned more about the sport than in all the websites I have ever visited.
When I first saw a copy of this book at the Grudge Training Center in Denver earlier this month, I knew I needed a copy. I went to the local book stores and to Amazon.com and found nothing. Apparently, there have been some distribution issues in the US ... But a book this cool HAD to be available somewhere for us American MMA fans!
I DO wish it was available in the US for the millions of US MMA fans. However, even ordering through the UK site was well WORTH it and was the best $34.95 USD you can spend on an AWESOME full-color hardcover 192 page book showcasing MMA.
Thank you, Mr. Whitehead, for putting this book together and for sharing with the world, one picture at a time, why MMA is so fricken' cool.
