I took a chance on this book through a paperback book club I belong to back when it was first published. It is an absolute riot. People looked at me like I was nuts when I would suddenly break out laughing. The gay aspect is not explicit. Joe Keenan, whom I believe is now the head writer for "Fraser," is one talented fellow.

Essentially,this is a tale of two Idiots and a Vixen.Plus the glamour of the filthy rich,plus the grisly menace of the underworld.But I see marvellous comic art,still unparalleled,in the charachter of the Duchess :this is pure Absurd,but a gay (in both meanings)absurd,and that is really rare.I think Joe Keenan is the greatest author of gay comic novel.See how he makes fun of the itchyness and bitchyness of certain gay people,in a manner still perfectly politically correct!But the sexual orientation of Philip and Gilbert is of very little consequence.The fun thing is...they're Murphy's Law in action!

If you enjoyed the episode of Frasier that has him bring home the new station manager as a date for Daphne, but the manager is gay and thinks that he's there on a date with Frasier, you will love this novel by the same author. He is also the director of many Frasier episodes. Well drawn, over the top characters. Plot: gay man marries rich mafia princess for the wedding gifts. I bought this based on a recommedation and laughed out loud cover to cover.
