Bitten By The Bullet is the story of how Steve Krzystyniak and Lily, his partner - both long-time global wanderers who now live Waiheke Island in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf - came to set up and operate an innovative motorcycle tour company that takes small parties through the northwestern Indian state of Rajasthan. One of the heroes of this story is the Royal Enfield Bullet, a classic fifties-style motorcycle that is still produced today in India and which is Steve and Lily's bike of choice. A fast-paced narrative with two storylines - the main one follows a particular tour group's adventures over a three-week period, which is underpinned by Steve Krzystyniak's account of how he and Lily took on the bureaucracy of India in order to achieve their dream - Bitten By The Bullet will be of enormous interest to armchair travellers and devotees of the colourful and dramatic Indian sub-continent, keeping them breathlessly involved until the very last page.

Format: Taschenbuch
A short delight full book about touring Rajasthan (India) on a classic 50's era British motorcycle...

Books on touring India on a motorcycle are few in number, in fact Divining the Deccan: A Motorbike to the Heart of India by Bill Aitken is the only other book that i am aware of. So if you have any interest in India or in motorcycling then you will like the book, however if you are a fan of old style single cylinder British thumper's the you will love this book. Exploring the back lane's and less travel led roads of rajasthan is almost like traveling back in time. You experience sight and sounds of almost half a century ago. So going around on a sixty year old motorcycle seem just apt..

The book starts the authors first journey to rajasthan on a 1950's Royal En field 500 cc motorcycle (which BTW is still produced brand new in India) and goes on describe how they became guided tour operators conducting motorcycle trip to rajasthan on a regular basis.

The book will wet your appetite for the alluring country that India is - from the sleepy villages of south rajasthan to the killing grounds (traffic wise) of Delhi, the reader get a pillion seat ride as he become part of the authors journey as they experience the beauty of India and at the same time try and get a grip on the chaos that is an integral part of life in India.

Rajat Hooja

A few shortcoming's (that's why only 4 stars)

1) Should have had more photos
2) Maps of the various journeys would have been good.
