This was a romantic YA novel for 17 and older because of profanity (f-word, sh,) and sexual situations. In that regard, it is similar to other YA books I loved Relatively Famous by Jessica Park or Between the Lines (Between the Lines #1) by Tammara Webber, to give you an idea. It has romance, sarcasm, insecurity, wealth and manipulation which all culminate to one wild relationship.

15 year old Margo is forced to go to her mother's island for summer vacation after her senator dad has died of cancer and she is in danger of being kidnapped for ransom. She is hoping to spend some time with the mother she has met only twice, but finds herself abandoned by her once again and left in the care of an 18 year old pilot Logan, who could pose for GQ magazine. After a bumpy flight to the island, where she completely loses it and slaps Logan, she begins her stay as a guest in her mother's dormitories - not in the main house. She is unhappy, afraid, lonely and hurt that Logan seems to hate her despite her apologizing for freaking out on him and slapping him. While trying not to fall in love with Logan and trying to understand why her mother hates her, Margo's life is in danger from the kidnappers who have made it to the island.

I loved Margo's personality and her spunk. Logan was a troubled hottie who was passionate and intriguing. This story needed to be so much longer so that their background stories could be better flushed out; enhancing who they were. Also, the ending was too short and abrupt. There were some great characters at Margo's school that were just breezed over and somewhat unexplained that needed better introductions, but maybe that's only because I didn't want it to end!

I loved the romance in this book and would definitely read more from this author. I think I will go download Stained (Stained Series).

This book is much better then I expected after downloading many a bargain eBook. The author provided a depth of character that appealed and I will read other works by her as I really liked how she wrote such interesting and flawed characters. I felt the romance aspect was more compelling then the thriller part but recommend this book overall.

We meet a vulnerable young girl named Margo who has been flown to her mother's private island for the summer to avoid another kidnapping attempt. Margo's father has recently died and now she feels like a burden to a mother who left her as a young child and never looked back. The mother appeared to be based on a Suze Orman type character. This island is a scientific research base and while there, Margo falls for the hero, a young man with a dark childhood of his own. The author made me care about these characters and root for a happy ending and it took until the last page to find out which way it would end.

I have two picks with the story. We are first introduced to Margo as a shallow and spoiled girl who thinks that her lost Louis Vuitton luggage matters more then possible kidnappers lurking about and spending time with a cold and imposing mom she's never known. We soon learn Margo is not and has never been shallow and I resented her being portrayed this way. Also, Margo is only 15 while the hero is 18 and although the age difference is minimum, he's a Junior in college while she's a freshman in high school and the relationship they have is very sexual. I know it's possible for this relationships to exist but couldn't the author have made Margo 17? She still would be in high school and it would have made for a better read.

I enjoyed reading this book (once I made Margo 17 instead of 15 inside my head). The hero and heroine were complex and original. The publishing errors (improper spacing and spelling) were minimal. It's a bargain at the price and I will be looking for more by this author.

This is one of the sweetest stories I've read in a long time! The characters were so genuine. It's a quick and easy read, very relaxing. It's not too complicated but definitely keeps you interested! Margo and Logan are soo sweet together. I was sad when the story ended, but loved the way Ella James closed it! Looking forward to more books by Ella James!!
