In diesem Buch geht es um Dick Grayson, der als neuer Batman das Böse bekämpft. Black Mask verfolgt einen düsteren Plan und nutzt den Reaper für seine Zwecke. Mit Mario Falcone siedelt sich die Falcone-Familie wieder in Gotham City an und will die Stadt zurück. Doch auch der Pinguin, der Riddler, Catwoman und Hugo Strange mischen mit.

This book gives us two story-arcs in one package.
In the first one Dick Grayson has to content with the new Black Mask and the resurgent of the Falcone-family, which makes life quite interesting for him, while once more endangering the whole of Gotham.
In the second story-arc the Riddler's past and the facts behind his change of life become more apparent as a series of copycat-killings of former money-men of the organised crime-scene brings him and the new caped crusader together.
Two quite complex stories in sometimes rather disturbing pictures. Also a little bit thicker than usual for this kind of collection, so this volume is quite worth its price.

strong Batman story

Tony Daniel is a good artist and he shows himself to be a good writer as well.I cant say I was surprised by who Black Mask was but he writes and handles the character of Dick Grayson better than most writers have done who tend to make him too whiny or too weak of a fighter and he does action well and did some other stuff like the Selina-Dick relationship with some skill. The fact he is a good artist helps. The main problem with the volume is the two part throw on story at the end which gets only 3 stars from me too much cornball magis for Batman and mediocore art.I would give this volume 3anda half stars but with no half star ratings I give the volume the rating of the larger story which is 4

Interesting episode in the latest Batman saga

This volume reprints DC Comics' Batman issues #692-699. It is an interesting episode in the latest Batman saga, providing you are following the storyline. Dick Grayson has now become the Batman, following the disappearance of Bruce Wayne. The Batman Family are trying to keep the peace in Gotham in Batman's absence, but not doing a great job of it. The Black Mask has reduced Gotham to a state of open warfare, the Falcone crime family is moving back in to town, and the Penguin is hoping to betray the Black Mask. This volume features the unmasking of the Black Mask and the resolution of his current storyline, and the introduction of a new protégé for the Catwoman. The second story, a two-parter, features the Riddler and the secret behind his recent conversion to a private investigator.
The story and art are reasonable, though not exceptional, for a Batman volume.

Dick has taken up his mantle, he has proven himself more than deserving after a long and troublesome journey internally and externally.
It's honestly hard to believe, at first thought, that anyone could effectively be Batman better than Bruce. Tony Daniel has proven otherwise. My only complaint is that character development is a little on the lacking side, that this story feels a little rushed. But I'm sure most would understand that getting used to a new pair of wings isn't going to come out perfect.
