Great recipes to cook some backbone apps in here 24. Oktober 2013
Von E. Leon - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
When I was looking for examples in backbone I found one that did not help me much and it was short, until this recipes book came out, I like the way it starts in chapter one with a full app sample and explained step by step, that was a start for me to dive in for more.
What I like about this book is how the author dives in one each of the example, running trough each line of code makes easy to understand what's going and figure out what to do in a next project if a piece is not need at that moment. The recipes are real problem solve experience building an app which help me to develop my skill while experience/reviewing each code (book comes with the source code which you can download and play with of course) It's a book where can come back any time and find one or two tips for your project until you become more experienced in backbone, Models, Collections,Views, Routers and, Events, Templates are cover in each chapter which makes it easy to find for a solution. My favorite chapter are Rest and Storage, and Special Techniques as I learned backbone while building and web app, book came so handy. I was not very happy with the use of plugins as I want it to understand plain backbone and maybe see how to handle in some cases with out a library which I think is posible (not in all the plugin samples though) at first but yet it became handy later on as some times use this book or the code as reference now.
If practice makes you stronger this book should be in your shelf or digital reader as the book contains many sample in backbone that can help you understand

Great book on a difficult subject 9. Februar 2014
Von Brian R. Jewell - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
I didn't like it at first, because I don't like technical books where the author uses a single programming example and carries it throughout the entire book. The reason being, if you don't understand one part of the program, it becomes difficult to understand subsequent examples of the same program that are used later in the book.

However, after my understanding of backbone.js got a little farther along, I went back to using the book again and realized the author had done a masterful job of breaking down the various backbone.js objects and showing numerous examples of how to use each one. So, I realized that this really was a "cookbook".

Now, I refer to the book all the time as I work towards understanding backbone.js. I would recommend this book to anyone trying to understand the latest front-end JS technologies!

Nothing gets you up to speed quicker than an bunch of clear, practical examples. And that's what this book is. It shows you idioms in a practical context. Very useful and easy to follow.

Worth to read 18. Dezember 2014
Von alexkenny - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
This book was one of set we bought to learn this amazing framework.
It is not for rookies in JS, I think you should have minimal JavaScript/HTML knowledge to understand this book and the library.
Topics coverage are very clear and enough to understand the Backbone principles and patterns.
There os only one suggestion to author - make source examples a bit simpler. They were a bit complex for me because I am new in binding and models. Of course it's easier to understand if you have already some experience with any other binding framework.

Some good information but loaded with typos 20. Dezember 2013
Von MARC L CURRY - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
There were some major typos in both content and code examples. I wouldn't mind these in a cheap kindle edition, but for the price would expect some level of proofreading.
