Kurzbeschreibung
This essay will focus on the notion of the city and its architecture, including a discussion on the effects of technology and industrialisation. I will also address the problematic nature of human identity within postmodern society. I use the film Blade Runner at some length to illustrate various points of my argument, particularly where visual imagery is important in defining the sense of the postmodern sublime
I will discuss ideas of postmodern architecture, dystopia, the creation of the artificial, problems of defining boundaries and the city as a state of mind or a projection of subconscious desires or fears. This work will focus on the notion of the city and its architecture, including a discussion on the effects of technology and industrialisation. I will also address the problematic nature of human identity within postmodern society.
