There is no text to indicate that the Atkins name is used by permission. There is nothing to indicate that the author is a nutritionist or is otherwise qualified to create recipes appropriate for use under the Atkins plan, nor to indicate that the recipes were selected from an approved Atkins resource.

Problems exist with spelling, punctuation, and spacing. This, for me, indicates a lack of attention to detail which I find less than desirable in a cookbook. Even running a spell check program would have caught several of these issues.

One recipe says at the end ": Counts for Davinci's vanilla syrup not included in totals." However, Davinci's vanilla syrup isn't mentioned in the recipe. Another recipe says the egg white powder isn't included in the totals. (The only totals are carbs per serving; no other information provided.) Maybe these ingredients don't affect the carb totals much, but it looks kind of odd to just say they aren't included.

I can't quite figure out why the author would include 24 "bonus Christmas party recipes" in this book. Granted, I'm no expert here, but if I had to guess, I would say several of these bonus recipes do not fit well into the Atkins plan or any kind of "diet" plan! We have pecan pie, a cake roll, pumpkin bread - well, heck, look at the list in the description and you'll see all the desserts involved. If I were committed to a particular diet plan and looking for recipes that fit into that plan, I'd be a bit upset about "bonus" recipes that just tempted me to go off my diet. I suppose it's also possible that someone might think the "bonus" recipes *are* part of the Atkins plan because of the title.

These recipes that are loaded with cream and artificial sweeteners. While they may be low carb and even considered Atkins friendly, they certainly aren't healthy. Anyone concerned about fat content or about consuming large quantities of artificial sweeteners should stay away.

As for the "Bonus" recipes, many of them are in no way, shape or form low carb. They call for ingredients such as flour, sugar, powdered sugar, pie crust, chocolate bars, and candy canes. Well, you get the picture.
