I love this book as it lends itself beautifully to asking the listener to predict and infer. It also is a great example of problem solving. The issue I have with this book is that one page has the main character's father aiming, literally with a rifle, to shoot the coyotes that the boy was previously tracking. He does NOT shoot them but decides on a better way of protecting his sheep. Still...it's not a page I would share with my class. This page is easily eliminated and the story flows fine without it....so I just pass over it, data cam and all - no harm done to the storyline. The illustrations are a kin to those found in 'Owl Moon.'
