Kurzbeschreibung

31. Mai 2012 Cut & Run
Cut & Run Series Book Five - Sequel to Divide & Conquer Left alone in Baltimore after his unpredictable lover bails, Special Agent Zane Garrett takes his frustration out on everything in his path until he is ordered to Chicago to back up an undercover operative. When he gets there, though, he finds himself face to face with his wayward partner, Special Agent Ty Grady. They have to deal with the uncertainty lingering between them while they work to retrieve their intended mark, a retired hit man and CIA wet-works operative named Julian Cross. Ty, once a Marine and now an FBI hotshot, has a penchant for being unpredictable, a trait Zane can vouch for. Zane is a man who once lived for his job but has come to realize his heartbreaking past doesn’t have to overshadow his future. They're partners, friends, lovers, and the go-to team for unusual cases. With Cross and his innocuous boyfriend, Cameron Jacobs, in tow, Ty and Zane must navigate the obstacles of a cross-country trek, including TSA pat-downs, blizzards, their uncooperative prisoners, CIA kill teams, a desperate lack of sleep and caffeine, and each other. Ty and Zane are determined to get Julian Cross to DC in one piece, but it’s starting to look like it might be the last thing they do.

Von javelinx TOP 500 REZENSENT
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf

This series is like a holiday, a spa for my soul.

And Armed & Dangerous is like the best day of it.

Ty and Zane are not just the most adorable and amazing couple of the gay fiction,
THEY ARE CULT! And this series is a MUST READ not only for the fans of M/M-genre.

I don’t know how Abigail Roux does it, but every sequel, every her next book is better than the previous one.

EVERYTHING IS GETTING BETTER HERE!

♥ Not only the relationship between Ty and Zane.
There are no misunderstandings.
They speak with each other.
They trust each other.
THEY LOVE EACH OTHER.
♥ Not only sex.
Oh yeah...Sex deserves only superlatives!
The sex scenes are one of the best I have ever read.

♥ Though also a suspense part!
Yes, you can forget the weakest point of the first books!!
There is nothing of a B-action movie in it!
The plot turned into an excellent thriller.
Nothing predictable, nothing secondary, nothing insignificant.

♥ It is a perfect mixture out of a heartbreaking romance, an action thriller, a mind-blowing erotic and a warm sweet romantic comedy.

FANTASTIC READING EXPERIENCE!

I ENJOYED EVERY SINGLE MOMENT OF THIS BOOK!
IT IS FUN!
IT IS A GOOD MOOD!
IT IS SMILE ON MY FACE ALL DAY LONG!!

I CAN'T HAVE ENOUGH OF TY AND ZANE!
AND I WANT MORE!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great addition to the series 18. Mai 2012
Von Arver - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Ms. Roux shows her true talents as she embarks on the journey of this series alone. I think this is the best book of the series so far. Ty and Zane are both growing into their relationship and learning to show their feelings to each other without shame, fear or embarrassment. The plot is strong, the side characters are great, and what can I say about Ty and Zane themselves? They're amazing. The addition of Julian Cross and his interactions with Ty brings hilarity in an otherwise emotional and plot heavy book. I loved it. Absolutely loved it and I look forward to the next addition of this series!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Did not disappoint 19. Mai 2012
Von Jen - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

This book was fantastic. It was a little different, but not in a way that any fan has to worry about. It's different because Ty and Zane have grown into their love for one another. The fear, the hiding --the denial-- they're all gone. Left in their place is something tender and stirring. Still hot, but also very sweet. The awesomeness is only compounded by the crossover of characters from Warrior's Cross. It really took it all to another level.

I should back up.

The story begins just a week after Ty bolted on Zane. He only planned to be gone a short time, but his boss has activated him for an off-book mission to bring informant Julian Cross into custody. An old friend of Ty's boss says he is being framed for a series of hit jobs and only Cross can clear his name. Zane is tapped to join Ty on the mission to find the illusive Irishman and bring him in.

For me Julian stole the show, with his dry wit and bad-assness. Scratch that. I loved Julian, Cameron, Ty AND Zane. They all played off each other's strengths and weaknesses in this spectacular dance. I loved watching Ty and Julian face off. I loved seeing their respect grow for one another. I loved the fact that I had absolutely no idea who the villain was until the last possible moment. I was tense and excited and happy and nervous... all at the same time.

The characters felt as clearly defined as they ever did. No one lost their "voice." The sex was still scorching hot and even with their new level of commitment, Ty and Zane are still... well, Ty and Zane. They are dysfunctional people, but they are growing. They are still learning each other, and trying to get past their issues long enough to make it work. In the process, we are treated to some great backstory that sheds a lot of light on what makes Ty Grady the man he is.

It was so good. Everything I hoped it would be. Now someone needs to tell me what Ty had hidden in that trench coat.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Bravo Abigail! 19. Mai 2012
Von Quillen-Gesell - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
The Cut & Run series has been a co-authored book until Madeline Urban left after book 4, Divide & Conquer. Armed & Dangerous was written by Abigail Roux alone. While I wasn't necessary worried about how the series would change, I was definitely curious. The book did read differently but only because this book really focused so much on Ty and Zane and their budding relationship. So much happened and so much was revealed that my head is still spinning!

Ty and Zane started off the series hating each other. Now, in Armed & Dangerous they're finally trying to have a life together and actually trying to establish some communication (which they were sorely lacking). We're reading Ty and Zane as an actual couple now and they see themselves as an actual couple. I would say Armed & Dangerous is the book where their relationship "officially" starts.

They've changed so much from the initial books, but it's only a natural growth as they get more comfortable with their feelings for each other. It's been really rewarding to follow along with them and experience how a relationship progresses. This is book 5 in a series and the whole series has only covered a few years. Because of that we're able to see Ty and Zane grow naturally as opposed to a summarized paragraph glossing over their relationship.

The book summary does a pretty good job of stating the plot so I won't repeat any of that. Attempting not to spoil anything, though, I will say that in Armed & Dangerous we see Ty and Zane reunited really early in the book and their reunion was great. We finally see them enjoying a few happy, relaxed moments before they're called into work to escort Julian and Cameron to DC. What follows is a very long, frustration journey where nothing goes right. Planes are missed, cars are broken down, and...oh, yeah...people are out to kill them. During this time, Ty and Zane are forced to keep their distance after only being reunited a few hours before. This doesn't strain their relationship; instead it forces both men to think about what it would be like if they didn't have to hide anymore.

I'm definitely going to have to reread this one. As I said, there were so many revelations about Ty and his history in the marines, very important details that fans are going to have to remember. Fans have been so curious and all the answers are here. Even Zane, who was normally Urban's character, read fluidly and I didn't notice any change in personally aside from his character growth.

What I loved about this book the most was just Ty and Zane. How they were together, how their confidence in each other and their relationship had grown, how they actually acted like a couple. They both seem perfectly willing to be open together if it wasn't for work. There wasn't a lot of action, but Ty and Zane more than kept my interest. This had humor, drama, angst, and plenty of happy sap. I loved it.

We also see more of Deuce and Nick. I have a feeling their going to be more fleshed out as the series progresses. I'm really glad Nick is a cool guy. I'd hate to have a trouble maker trying to drive a wedge between Ty and Zane.

Fans no longer have to worry about how the direction the series will go. The only criticism I have of the book was the end only because I didn't want it to end!

There's four more books left in the series, at least! I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment and what step Ty and Zane's relationship will take next.

Good job, Abigail!

5.0 von 5 Sternen A Gift from the Author 20. Mai 2012
Von Attention Is Arbitrary M/M Book Reviews - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
A Gift!

This book is a gift given by the author to the reader. It is full of exquisite romance, passion-filled exchanges and quirky little quips and phrases that are exactly what we love about Ty and Zane.

"Less talky, Zane,"
"I don't think I've ever been gayer than I am right now."
"Come on, Zane, don't be scared of a little pussy,"
_____________________

"This was like National Lampoon's Vacation, but with death, property destruction, and an Irish accent."

The Adventure: is twisted and involved enough to keep the reader on their toes and not really seeing what is to come. Plus, what's not to love about putting four gay men in a car, on a road-trip of sorts who on some level all despise or at least don't trust each other. It's great fun to see what will happen.

______________________

Even the personality of the cats ring through - "Smith and Wesson both sat down in the opening to bedroom, ready to enjoy the show".

The Characters: are all just perfect, well developed and likeable/loveable. We read this series because we are in love with Ty and Zane but the development of the secondary characters (and all of their traits) are what bring the story into the realm of "all-time favorites". Julian's epic Alpha-suaveness, Cameron's vulnerability and Preston's aloof perfection are qualities you want to explore more.

I've noticed some readers not caring for Cameron but I have to say his character is just one of my favorites. I think it is because he is me. He brings a 'normal human element into this story of 'super-perfect-cool-spy-guys that let's me identify with and allows me "into" the story. I love that!
_______________________

The Writing: is quick paced, immediately gripping and doesn't slow down...except where you want it to. The very best thing about this book for me was the amount of dialog. There was plenty of visual orientation, I never felt like I couldn't see what was going on but it was the deep and heartfelt exchanges and the quick, quirky comebacks that just drove this on. So often when I read I get bogged down in side character dialog though and the author is incredibly astute in keeping that from happening. There were glimpses of third-party elements essential to the story that came through perfectly clearly but did not slow the story down. Thank you!

So again, I say that this book was a gift from Abigail Roux to her readers. Probably in reparation for what she did to them at the end of book 4, but a gift nonetheless.

I gladly give this book 5 stars and the accolade of, "I can't wait for the next one".

5.0 von 5 Sternen Armed & Dangerous 20. Mai 2012
Von A. Schreiner - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Before I get into this review, let me first say it might not be the most objective review ever. I love this series. Ty and Zane are two of my favorite characters ever. I could read about them sitting on the couch and probably love the book. Of course that being said, there is something about the writing in these books that just draws me in. Ty and Zane are both so well done. They are never predictable and that really intrigues me. I'm addicted and they are my crack. I adored this book. Here is why.

Ty and Zane are finally in a good spot in their relationship. They have both said `I love you' and really mean it. Both working in the FBI's Baltimore office, their boss, Richard Burns finds himself in some trouble. Burns's good friend Jonas Randall who works for the CIA, comes to him with some upsetting news. Jonas says someone is setting him up to take the fall for ordering private hits. There is only one guy alive who might know who is setting him up, and his name is Julian Cross. Problem is that Julian wants nothing to do with the CIA anymore and is refusing to cooperate. An extremely dangerous man, Burns agrees to put his two best men on the case. Which means Ty Grady and Zane Garrett are off to Chicago to bring Julian Cross back to Baltimore. Of course, nothing goes as planned. Julian is extremely tough to bring in, and they end up on a road trip of sorts back to Baltimore with Julian trying to escape the entire time. And then the CIA starts shooting at them. Just another day for Ty and Zane.

That sets up the conflict part of this book, but let's face it. I read this series more of the interactions between Ty and Zane than the suspense. First let me say, Julian Cross (and his boyfriend Cameron) star in the book Warrior's Cross. You might want to read that book first (as well as this series in order) to get the full effect of all of these characters. I love Julian Cross, and he has some great moments with Ty and Zane. He is extremely smart and dangerous and tries to out with Ty and Zane at every turn. They hate each other, but it starts to turn into respect by the end of their journey and I loved it. I think because Julian was involved, this was my favorite suspense plot of the series.

As I mentioned above, Ty and Zane are finally together and in love and in this book we get to see them explore this. There is no major drama between them. There are still issues they have to work out, and many things they have to learn about each other. But they are both willing to take that jump into a full-time, exclusive relationship. They are more in awe in this book about what they truly have together.

At the beginning of the book, Zane is still really angry for Ty up and leaving after the `I love you' was muttered at the end of the previous book.

****
"Does it make you feel better to know I missed the hell out of you?" Ty whispered, lips moving against Zane's. "And I hope you're still just a little angry when we get to my hotel room."

Zane let out a shuddering breath. "It'll be more than just a little."

Ty hummed, the sound deep and anticipatory. It was almost a purr. "Promise?"

Zane gripped Ty's upper arms tight. "Absolutely."
****

I'm so glad this conflict didn't drag much into this book. As we've gotten to know Ty, we know that he is high strung. That when massive stress comes down on him, he needs his space. He can take down the deadliest of bad guys without batting an eyelash, but dealing with his true love, is something totally different. We get a lot of answers about Ty's past, and how it has shaped who he is today. The dark days of him being in the elite force of the marines, and what really happened to him with his best friend Nick.

Zane has a little quieter role in this book, but still makes an impact. I love that he is the quieter one, yet Julian knows, if push came to shove, Zane would be the first one to shoot him. This series sets these characters in extreme circumstances both in their professional and personal life which is why I love it so much. Ty and Zane are always a breath away from getting killed. And obviously that won't happen, but it still puts you on edge. And then you have these two extremely alpha men - both who have been with women in the past and really discover a homosexual relationship for the first time with each other. Their sex is so intense and hardcore, that it really makes the scenes memorable. They went from hating each other and having sex to now in book five, loving each other so much that they can barely can take it ...and still having sex. It is emotional overkill and I can't get enough of it.

I feel like this book flowed better. Sometimes in previous books the scenes seemed to last too long, or it was too jerky with scene changes. No idea if it is because this is the first book written by Abigail Roux and not Madeline Urban, but I'll take it either way. I adored what we got with Ty and Zane, and Julian thrown in there as well. I highly recommend this series be read in order (stating with Cut & Run). The books just get better and better as the series progresses. This is my favorite of the series and I can't wait to see what Abigail Roux has in store for us next time.
