Kurzbeschreibung

Fate isn’t something to mess with... and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods--and Alex herself--to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex's power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex's connection to Seth isn't the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole "an Apollyon can’t be killed" theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer... or she might become the God Killer herself.

360 pages.

4.0 von 5 Sternen das vorletzte Buch ... 29. Juli 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf

3.0 von 5 Sternen It was OK 19. April 2013

OK, I loved the other books in the Covenant series but this one I felt was lacking something... the others I read through almost without putting them down, but I found parts of this I didn't want to read anymore. However there were parts of the book that I loved. I am looking forward to the final book!

I was really nervous about where this series was going after reading Deity. Not about the writing, because let's face it, that is pretty phenomenal, but mainly, I didn't want Alex turning evil. I didn't want her to want Seth. It is no secret that I have been team Aiden through the whole series and to have it end like it did at the end of Deity, well, that just left me anxious and concerned (by the way I strongly urge you to read Elixir before starting this one, it is fantastic and gives you a great idea of what happened between Alex and Aiden after Deity).

And I had a right to be. If I had to hear (okay, read) Alex say "My Seth" one more time, every time, she thought of or mentioned Seth, I seriously thought I would be sick. It was just...ick! In fact, for the first time ever while reading this series, I wanted to scan ahead to see how much of the "My Seth" torture I was going to have to endure. Without giving too much away, it wasn't bad. Worse than I wanted it to be, but not as bad as I feared.

And once again, let me repeat, just when I don't think I could love Aiden more than I already do, I do and I can. He (unbelievably) just keeps getting better and better. There were so many great moments between him and Alex, moments that I have been waiting three books (and two novellas) for. They really did make my heart melt. I so want these two to have a happily ever after, I really do. I have been rooting for them since the beginning.

Actually there were a lot of characters in this one I didn't think I would ever find myself loving (like Marcus!) and found that I really did after reading this. Apollo being one of them. I love him! I couldn't help it. He was pretty fun and an all around great guy, if not mysterious. Deacon and Luke were just as great as was Solo. Olivia, Lea, really everyone has grown so much that it is hard not to care for them all.

I will admit that we do get to see sides of Seth that I wasn't expecting. Sides that do make me think he cares about Alex, maybe just not in the way that is right for either of them, but in the only way that he knows how to.

Once again Jennifer created a kick butt addition to this series. Alex is a strong and fierce as she ever has been. She continues to grow through this series and with each new book I love her more.

This was a hard book to read, not only because it means there is only one more left until the whole series is over and we will have to say good bye but because we loose some people in this one. People I have grown to care about over the course of the series. It does make me nervous for what will happen in the last book. I don't want to have to say good bye to any more people that I love and I know that I will.

I love how this one ended. It was a beautiful way to end it after what had just happened the chapter before. It makes me worry for Alex though. She has so much weighing on her. So much she is responsible for but I know if anyone can do it, she can and will.

This was very well done and I can't wait to get my hands on the next and last volume however bittersweet that will be.

3.0 von 5 Sternen A little too Predictable ... 9. April 2013
Von Saya - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I am not flaming this book series or this book or this book series. Just thought I'd point that out. Also I do not give spoilers/summaries in my reviews so some of what I am trying to say may sound unclear to those of you who have not yet read it. There are things in this book that feel out of place in comparison to the writing style of the other novels.

I could not wait to get my hands on this book, especially after Deity and Elixer. What surprised me about this book is that I found myself skimming over pages hoping it would lead up to something. I didn't skim the other novels and in fact have read them quite a few times. I had a hard time making it through this one.

I felt like Armentrout tried to push too many events on an "epic" scale all in one book. Some events that happened in this book felt jumpy, random, too rushed, or too easy even though it was supposed to be a dangerous task, or simply over looked. For those who are used to mythology tales, it began to feel too cliche. The word epic as well as media related references are over used.

The pacing of events in Apollyon made it difficult to figure out timing.

After rereading this book there are things I like about it but the things that irritate me still out weigh those that I like about it. I think that there are events that happened that could defiantly have been left out and in all honesty I don't know what Elixer and Apollyon had to be separate books seeing as how all of her novels are pretty short. I will be finishing this series in hopes that she remidies certain things that I have seen through out the series but I doubt it. I was able to predict the Apollyon pretty much on the dot. I'm not quite sure where the last one is going to go but we'll have to wait and see.

3.0 von 5 Sternen More of a Filler Build Up for the next book to come... 11. April 2013
Von Lettee - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I am really sorry to have to write this as a "so so" review. But, it really wasn't as good as her other ones in this series. Don't get me wrong, there are some REALLY good parts in this book including things we really were waiting to know about since the last installment and some other things that will keep you on the edge of your seat. And trust me, there were parts that I was so engrossed in, I thought I would crack my Kindle Fire with anxiety!! But, they were so very few and far between.

As always with my reviews: I will NOT disclose things that are in the book because then it is not worth your while to actually read the book!! I will, however, give you my opinion on why or why not to read the book, with giving you a few of my reasons for that. With that said, I enjoyed the parts with Alex and her being the Apollyon. I enjoyed the few actions parts in this book along with the adventures you go on in the story. We get to learn a little more with the Gods and plans that are to come. There are also a few tid bits that will put you on the edge of your seat. BUT, there just wasn't enough of all of this to keep you engrossed through the whole book. I found at times I was huffing and puffing to just get to the point and have something, ANYTHING, to happen or be considered important. This particular installment seemed to have a lot of "filler" rather than having action, story and conversations going on. It really was a little disappointing. It felt as though Jennifer was building us up for a Cliff Hanger to lead to the final book. (IF the next one will be the final one. In all honesty, I don't know how it wouldn't be at this point.)

Overall, I will still recommend this book if you are reading the series. Just be prepared to not have the constant "Eyes glued to the book" scenario you usually get with Jennifer's books.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Excellent Addition to the Covenant Series!! 7. April 2013
Von Shelly - Avid Reader - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I have been waiting on pins and needles for this latest installment in the Covenant series by Jennifer Armentrout. I really enjoy this series. Alex is snarky and kick-butt but is also thoughtful, honest and full of integrity. I was a bit worried how the transformation from half-blood to Apollyon would affect her personality. I should have known JA wasn't going to let us down!

While I felt in this book Alex and Aiden were a little too lovey-dovey, I recognized, as I read the last word, that they deserved the time to indulge in their relationship. Both fought long and hard to bring the real Alex back from the brink. I think Alex finally realizes that she is her own person and that no one can take that from her unless SHE allows it. Overall, in Apollyon, Alex becomes an adult. She embraces her power, begins to strategize what is best for the people she loves and for the world as she knows it and she makes hard decisions. Very little of this book has Seth directly as an influence in it. This story is about Alex and Aiden. How trust, hope, love and determination can shape outcomes they weren't sure could be controlled. This story is about family. Those you are born with and ones that you choose to belong to. Apollyon is about walking that thin line of right/wrong, sinner/sin, want/need, freedom/oppression and finally, honest, open and fulfilling love.

It was beautifully written and while I am an admitted Jennifer Armentrout fan-girl, I promise that if this story had sucked I would have been sad to say it, but say it I would. Honestly, the only downfall I could find with the book is that there are quite a few typos and for me, at times, they sort of took away from my momentum and emotional connection (because there is a lot of action and emotion is this book!)

If you have been with this story from the beginning and have read Elixer then you MUST read this one. As soon as I am done this review, I'm reading it over again, slowing my pace this time to really enjoy the story and the nuances. It's just a fantastic book! Thank you Ms. Armentrout for an outstanding story!!

It was good but that's it, just good. Maybe I just expected too much. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the book and I definitely loved that we finally got to see Alex and Aiden really be together out in the open. There were definitely heart pounding moments and we really got to know some of the characters a lot better. I have to agree with a few other reviewers this seemed to be a filler or maybe a bridge to the next and last book in the series. I would say if your reading the series you have to read this book. Also normally I don't read the novellas but you should read Elixer before Apollyon.
