Too Disorganized for Me

I'm not a yoga professional. In fact I know very little about yoga at all. What I am is a home schooler who is using a curriculum which recommends Angel Bear Yoga for kindergarteners. So I thought I'd give it a try.
Angel Bear is a wonderful program. I bought the dvd as well, and we adore it. I like their attitude and approach. Although I was concerned about the character building aspect, I needn't have been--its not religious. So I really like the program. However this manual is very badly put together. I tried to use it with my daughter and it was a complete flop. Everything is broken down into sections, so in order to do one lesson you have to find all the different components in all their different places, figure out what order they should go in, and all without losing the attention of a hyper 5 year old. I'm going to try prepping the lessons first, but honestly--how much work would it have been to simply leave them together? Why deconstruct a manual into useless bits?

Both of my sons have benefited from Angel Bear Yoga, though they were 7 and 10. This is a program that I would recommend to others, both parents and educators based on my experiences as a parent, Special Educator and Parent Educator.
Children are excited and interested in the poses and story and during this experience, the stage is well set for future discussion of values and attitudes in a way that is appropriate for young children. In addition, the program improves physical fitness and coordination and successfully provides an outlet for physical energy and movement that children need. For parents, Angel Bear Yoga provides a wonderful opportunity to share time and love with their childeren.

Christi Eley has created a wonderful and unique yoga program for children. Her Angel Bear Yoga program uses an adventursome storytelling approach to not only teach fun and healthy yoga poses, but also to teach children about positive character traits and and how all things in nature reflect back to character. This program truly nutures the child's spirit. The Angel Bear Adventure stories CD is great for relaxation and quiet time at the end of the yoga session. My 4 year old loves doing Angel Bear Yoga. As a yoga instructor, I will soon be adding Angel Bear Yoga classes to my class schedule so that I can share the program with other children. I recommend Angel Bear Yoga to both parents and teachers. The program is easy to follow and fun to teach. The main lesson book and other accessories provide you with everything you need to teach the program even if you have little or no previous yoga experience.
