A Must Have For Any Roller Coaster Fan 24. März 2013
Von Lance Hart - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
Today I had the pleasure of reading the new book "American Coasters: A Thrilling Photographic Ride" by Thomas Crymes. The new book is home to more than 200 fantastic color pictures of fantastic roller coasters from around the United States. It is more than just a pretty photo book however, as it breaks things down into sections on 12 very popular US theme parks, with featured entries all about a few of each park's most iconic roller coasters, including a beautiful section showing off the infamous Son of Beast wooden coaster at Kings Island as it was when it opened, complete with the vertical loop.
Not only does the title serve as your virtual window into some of the nations best theme parks for roller coasters, but it certainly will give you the urge to get out there yourself and try these creations. It starts things off right by showing off Cedar Point followed by: Knoebels, Carowinds, Kennywood, Kings Island, Kings Dominion, Six Flags New England, Six Flags over Georgia, Six Flags America, Dorney Park, Six Flags Great Adventure as well as the always photogenic Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
If you don't see your favorite park on the list, there is a small final section entitled, "Best of the Rest", that quickly mentions a good number of other parks around the country. In particular you may notice the title is lacking sections on the big parks in California, Florida and Texas, but in the end I figure this just leaves Thomas Crymes plenty of material left to cover in the eventual follow up book I hope he authors. After all, clocking in at 172 pages, this book is certainly no slouch in the size department. The pages are big and beautiful, showing off his photography skills very well... from scenic backgrounds and stunning skylines to extreme close up photos... close enough to show off if the paint is peeling on your favorite coaster. Simply put, this book is a must have possession for any roller coaster fan. - Lance / Owner - Screamscape.com

My son (12 years old) loves this book. I think he's worn the binding already. He is a true roller coaster enthusiast and he loves reading all the facts and info about so many coasters.
Great pictures, but lacking information 30. Juni 2014

This "photographic ride" zeroes in on a handful of parks, mostly on the East Coast and in Florida. There are so many truly great coasters missing, while other photos take up space with cloned coasters like the ancient SLC, Mind Eraser (which is on the cover for whatever reason, strange choice). The photos are mostly gorgeous and there are some truly stunning shots in the book. However, there's not enough text, making it more of a coffee table look book than a volume about the history of these rides. There are some technical specs and a few blurbs for the different parks featured (such as Kennywood, Six Flags New England, etc) but no real meat in the reading department. With so few books in publication about coasters, this one is a nice heavy volume with glossy pages, and is perfect as a display book on a side table, which is where my copy is kept.

Awesome new coaster book! 27. April 2013

I recently ordered this new coaster book because I collect all things coaster related. I didn't know what to expect but this book is full of wonderful pictures and descriptions of the coasters. It is the best coaster book to come out in a long time. I am so glad Thomas created this book and I wish more would pop up. The only criticism I would have is that a few of the pictures aren't the best and an SLC does not deserve the cover but that is a minor criticism in a book that is absolutely wonderful and worth your money, unlike some other coaster books out there (read my review of America's top roller coasters & amusement parks.) I highly recommend American Coasters!
