From Booklist

Daly has her reputation as a radical feminist with little patience for the foibles and menace of patriarchy to uphold, and in this incendiary tract--"a challenge and an invitation" for women and to women--she does. It is a rallying cry, a feminist manifesto, enjoining women to combat their oppressors. Employing everything from quantum theory to Thomistic philosophy, Daly argues forcefully about the dangers of patriarchy while freely acknowledging that many of her critics associate the term with "seventies feminism" and consider the entire rhetoric passe. She begs to differ and comments at length about the interconnectedness of women and ecology. The villain of her eloquent rant is George W. Bush, who she suggests epitomizes Hannah Arendt's phrase "the banality of evil" in his dangerous politics and his vacant, arrogant persona. Calling Daly strident is an understatement, yet her contentious take on the modern world deserves to be heard. June Sawyers

Pressestimmen

Praise for the Famous Radical Feminist Philosopher’s Groundbreaking Works:

“This is Mary Daly’s masterpiece. In Western tradition, her only near-equal is the poet William Blake. Daly is a philosopher/artist of great strength and grace.”—Andrea Dworkin on Quintessence…Realizing the Archaic Future

“Alive with creative energy, impelled by an urgency of vision . . . Philosopher, theologian, mythologist, explorer, pirate, warrior, witch, fairy, or leprechaun, Daly draws her readers into her outrageously lived life.”—Mary Jo Weaver, The New York Times Book Review, on Outercourse

“Rich in ideas, imagery, and Daly’s characteristic wordplay, Pure Lust not only explores and analyzes the patriarchy’s abuse of lust . . . but [affirms] feminist ‘life-lust’ and vision. This is a witty, original work—and one which is A-mazing Elemental Daly.”—Robin Morgan, Ms.

“Mary Daly has shocked and angered us to a new edge of feminism.”—Valerie Miner, San Francisco Chronicle, on Gyn/Ecology

“Not for the timid, this brilliant book calls for nothing short of the overthrow of patriarchy itself.”—Alix Kates Shulman, The Village Voice, on Beyond God the Father

“A hard-hitting, highly original, and even revolutionary little book unmasking the latent anti-feminism in so much Catholic thinking and practice . . .”—Thomas Merton on The Church and the Second Sex

"What is 'amazon grace'? According to theologian and philosopher Daly, it is women's ability to face the world with determination and humor...Daly's well-supported arguments are wide-ranging...[readers] will be ultimately rewarded..."--Library Journal

"A shock of awakening such as is found in the works of Simone de Beauvoir."--Publishers Weekly
