Number 5, the traitor 29. August 2014
Von Julie Robinson - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
I always wish these books were longer, but their purpose is to tantalize you before the main story comes out. This book gives great background for several characters that I assume will be in the next volume. I almost felt sorry for #5 but of course he was a traitor so that lasted about a minute. I do enjoy this series of books but my main complaint is the use of swearing. I believe it is totally unnecessary, and since teens are the main readers of this series I don't believe this is setting a good example for them. A lot of them use these words in their everyday language and it never makes a person sound overly intelligent. It tends to be particularly bad at school and it is frowned upon in the professional workplace, so let's raise the standard when writing books for teen. Stephanie Meyer's books were wildly popular and she did not use four-letter words in any of her books, so I repeat : It is unnecessary!

The Manipulation of Five 8. März 2015
Von Rene P. - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
This book helps to fill in some of the holes in the plot of the main series "I am number four." This book includes the novellas 7-9 ("Five's Legacy", "Return to Paradise", and "Five's Betrayal.") We get an inside look at Five's side of the story, what happened to Mark James and Sarah Hart after Four left, and how manipulative the Mogadorians can be.

Number Five is a member of the remaining Garde. He and Rey ,his Cêpan, started in Canada and then began their move south once the Mogs found them. The story begins on a deserted island with Five running for his life. A little while later, Rey's health conditions worsen and he dies. Five is left on his own. After the wet season, Five attempts to sail away from the island and ends up lost at sea. He almost dies of dehydration and accidentally discovers that he has the legacy of flight. He lands in Miami, Florida. A few weeks later, he crosses paths with a girl named Emma. They are both thieves, so they join forces to steal petty cash from tourists. They soon attract attention of a man called Ethan. Five soon realizes that the Mogs are closer and have more eyes and ears then he previously believed.

The next story, "Return to Paradise" tells us what happened to Mark James and Sarah Hart before and during the events of "The Power of Six." Mark has gone from being a cocky football jock to being more serious after the battle at Paradise High in "I am Number Four." He can't pretend that it didn't happen and that there aren't aliens trying to take over the world. Sarah Hart is known as being the girl who dated the terrorist. Four (John Smith) has been accused of blowing up the school. The FBI took over the case and cordoned off the school and refused to tell the local police force anything. Mark's dad is the local sheriff. Mark sneaks into his dad's office in order to get any information on what they thought happened. His dad catches him in the act, at that moment Mark gets a text from Sarah. His dad reads it and immediately sends Mark home and calls it in the FBI. The message was that four had returned to Paradise. Four is captured and Sarah is taken in for questioning. Mark learns that the Mogs had infiltrated deep into the government. The third story "Five's Betrayal" picks up where "Five's Legacy" ends. We get to see the events that occurred before five joined up with the other Garde in "The Fall of Five."

Due to the excessive amount of swearing I would give the age recommendation of 14+ for these stories. Luckily the plot and the characters were well written, thus salvaging the piece. The swearing was unneeded and it was annoying. I would have enjoyed the book more if it was cleaner.

This book should be read because it gives a background to how Five thinks and the circumstances that molded him. The second reason is that questions are answered about what Mark James did while left behind and stuck in Paradise. The third reason is that it further shows the subtle manipulation that the Mogadorians and their followers use.

Good reads, but not as good as the previous lost files. 14. April 2015
Von A. Heaney - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
Good reads, nonetheless.

Five's Legacy was interesting to say the very least. It gave the reader decent insight on a decent backstory, and a great cliffhanger. Only real problem is that the backstory is quite different from Book 4's backstory of Five.

Five's Legacy gets a 8/10

Return to Paradise got a lot of backlash. My thought is that it's... OK. Not bad, not good, just ok. The positives are that it's well written (compared to book 4), the story is not half bad, and the characters are likable in their given situation, especially Mark's. The negatives are that, first off, the entire novella only serves a purpose to get Mark back into the story so he can eventually join the team with the other humans. Ugh. Also, the story, though suspenseful at times, is really, really boring during the rest of the novella. And other than the introduction of a new Character, GUARD, there is nothing new to the story.

Return to Paradise gets a 7/10

Five's Betrayal was an improvement. Definitely a great-ish bookend to Five's backstory. It's better written than the last two, and the story is pretty good too! And You, as a reader, can really feel for poor Five.

Five's Betrayal gets an 8.5/10
Must Read for the Lorien Fan 21. Oktober 2014

These books are a nice fill in for the series. I have all three of the Lost Files collections. They run parallel to the series and give you more background and insight into some of the characters and events. Should be considered part of the series.
Fun to read but starting to tire of the series 9. Januar 2015

more short stories to fill in the blanks between "big" books. It's good "check your brain at the door" fun but I'm starting to tire of the series.
