Alistair MacLean introduces Scotland was a great read. Each chapter is an Essay on a different aspect of Scotland by different Scottish writers of the 1970's. Although the view is a little dated now the picture painted is still relevant for those who would like to understand Scotland of today and not just during the times of Robert the Bruce, King James VI or even during Prince Charlies rebellion.
The essays look at things like education, politics, religion, art and even some history. This book should be read a chapter at a time and take some time to digest what each author says. I found a lot of facinating information by the views presented and now have a better understanding of Scotland's struggles and place in the world of today.
