ich benütze seit Jahren Lonely Planet als Reisevorbereitung, Einige sind ausgezeichnet, andere nun, geht so. Der gehört leider ebenfalls ins Mittelfeld.
Doe herausklappbare Karte zerreisst bald einmal, die Darstellung, etc. irritiert irgendwie, die Sprache muss immer so fetzig sein, es ginge auch nüchterner, irgendwas missfällt an diesem Führer.
Ich denke, Lonely Planer Alaska Discovery Guide ist besser.

Helpful, Informative, Alaska Travel Book

I sampled several Alaska travel books to prepare for my trip in Summer 2012. Of the books I looked at this was the most helpful. It has a brief historical summary of each area so you can appreciate what each region has been through before you get there. It was very helpful in finding places in each area that interested me. Whether you wanted to find the nearest place for a scenic photograph, the best place to take the kids, or the nicest restaurant in town this book can help you do it. It also lists website that were very helpful in finding further information on ferry or train schedules and such. I was not disappointed in my trip because I knew what to expect from many of the sites and restaurants from reading this book. I felt prepared for the Last Frontier and you will too if you purchase this book. Parts of this book were so entertaining that I laughed out loud while reading.
I was raised Alaskan and this book taught even me a thing or two about the area I was from. It is a well researched book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone Alaska bound.

The information provided in the book was great, if you could find it. The kindle edition was difficult to work with and while traveling in Alaska I finally gave up trying to locate the information I wanted as I traveled within the state. The travel and tourism offices became my friends. Perhaps the problem was with the Kindle Fire, don't know, but the table of contents never displayed making the efficient use of the book impossible.

Having this guide in your hands is like having a native guide showing you around 24/7..!
I can tell that my overall Alaskan experience was increased and improved thanks to this book,. This is not the first time that I use a Lonely Planet guide.This one was definitely vivid and very informative to the point where I was able to make decisions during legs of the trip based on information and advice contained in this guide..The historic facts anx other background information bring more context and interest and I will absolutely recommend this book to anyone planning to visit the last frontier..!!
