Some of it was kind of b o r i n g, but in general I thought this was a good book on ways to understand the afterlife, and ghosts and such. There were some good stories, but too few. I would recommend (2) other books, "Psychic Gifts in the Christian Life - Tools to Connect" by Tiffany Snow, tells some things, and differences, about "energy tracings" ghosts, spirits, and "fallen angels" as well as some new things about how to try to see them, how to send them "to the light" (both ghosts and fallen angels/demons), along with a lot of unique and sometimes funny stories. Also, "Ghosts at my Back Door - and in the Living Room!" by Angela Watkins is a good book, although it may be out of print here in the US. This is mostly stories, but from a ghost hunter who has a lot of experiences, both frightening and funny, and also how to "expel" or "exorcise" them (so does Snow's book, a part on exorcism of dark spirits). Edward's book is OK, but it isn't the complete "Bible" on ghosts, hauntings, etc. It's good enough to add to your collection, though.

Well, I've read all of John's books, and this one was the least interesting, primarily because it contains almost nothing new. John indicates in his introduction that he considers this book to be "One Last Time, Part II," and indeed it reads more like a continuation of "One Last Time" than it does anything else. I've watched the show "Crossing Over" many times, and still have questions about "the other side" that I thought John was going to attempt to answer in this book, since it is subtitled "Answers from the Other Side." I didn't feel like any answers were provided, but rather the information contained in John's other books was just reiterated through more readings and seminars. The truly redeeming part of this book is the last chapter, "Papa, can you hear me?" John's father died while he was writing this book, so John was finally able to discuss (which he had never done previously) his estranged relationship with his father and how even a medium has to deal with (or choose not to deal with) family conflict and disappointment. This chapter can be helpful and enlightening to those people who don't resolve complex issues with "loved ones" before they cross over, and really enhanced my picture of who John is personally. The book is a good read, but I don't feel it stands out in the same way that "Crossing Over" and "One Last Time" did.

Putting faith in After Life

I have read each and every review on this book and took everyone's words into consideration. I just finished the book myself and have to say I truly enjoyed it. Some of the reviews on this site attack Mr. Edward as a medium and as a person and it is clear that those reviews are by people who have not picked up the book (although they claim to have read the book in one sitting). This book took me through the process and helped me have a little more faith in people, life and the after life. After Life has something for everyone from the reading with Aaliyah's mother (which is an amazing chapter in my opinion as I was and still am a huge Aaliyah fan) to personal stories of Mr. Edward's family. I have been to seminars, watched the show, seen t.v. specials, gone to his offical website and read articles about Mr. Edward and his work but nothing brings you closer to his gift then this book! Everyone has an opinion and the right to voice it but my advise to those who sit here and bash Mr. Edward and his line of work...DON'T HOLD SUCH STRONG OPINIONS ABOUT THINGS YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! Everyone in this world should be able to put thier faith into something or someone and after reading AFTER LIFE I know where my faith is placed. Love Mr. Edward or hate him, After Life is a wonderful book and can help anyone through the healing process...all you need is a little faith and an open mind.

Nope...not enough meat or potatoes

I like John Edward, and watch his TV show, which is fascinating. I liked his second book - crossing over. But this book just goes on and on with the same, and no new information. I just read a book by Tiffany Snow that gives exercises on how to see ghosts, stories about helping with unfinished business, and also stuff on the "bump in the night" kinds of ghosts. I liked hers better. John never talks about the other kinds of invisible forces there are out there - and I needed to know that too. Not all ghosts are dead people trying to say they love us. Maybe its the folks NOT on TV that are the cutting edge, I don't know. But, what I do know is that I'm going to a book store next time and thumbing through his next book before I buy it. If it's more of hte same, I'm writing him off.
