Kurzbeschreibung

Everything that Lewis Carroll ever published in book form appears in this volume. In addition, at least ten of the shorter pieces have never appeared in print except in their original editions. Included are: "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", "Through the Looking-Glass", "Sylvie and Bruno", "Sylvie and Bruno Concluded", "The Hunting of the Snark" and all of the poetry, essays and phantasmagoria along with a substantial collection of his miscellaneous writings. "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Other Stories" is part of "Barnes & Noble"'s series of quality leatherbound volumes. Each title in the series presents a classic work in an attractively designed edition bound in genuine bonded leather, with beautiful illustrations and breathtaking endpapers. These books make elegant additions to any home library.

Über den Autor

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, known by his pen name, Lewis Carroll, was happiest in the company of children for whom he created puzzles, clever games and charming letters. As all Carroll admirers know, his book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) became an immediate success and has since been translated into more than eighty languages. The equally popular sequel Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, was published in 1872. The Alice books are but one example of his wide ranging authorship. The Hunting of the Snark, a classic nonsense epic (1876) and Euclid and His Modern Rivals, a rare example of humorous work concerning mathematics, still entice and intrigue today's students. His humour, sparkling wit and genius have lasted for more than a century and his books are among the most quoted works in the English language.

Zwei Daumen hoch! 9. August 2011
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe

lovely reissue of Carroll's work 18. Januar 2010
Von bOoKwOrM - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
This is a large leatherbound edition of Carroll's work, from Barnes & Noble. It is their newest reissue of the book, released in January of 2010. Besides the two Alice books(which retain the classic John Tenniel illustrations), this edition also has the following:

- Sylvie & Bruno
- Sylvie & Bruno Concluded
- The Hunting of the Snark
- and "...all of the poetry, essays, phantasmagoria along with a substantial collection of the miscellaneous writings"

The cover of the book is a very lovely mixture of pink and black and gold, with a very whimsical illustration of Alice. If all you have is a paperback copy, then it's definitely worth to 'upgrade' to this particular edition.

Easily the most beautiful book I have ever seen. 10. April 2012
Von Cbear6889 - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe|Von Amazon bestätigter Kauf
I ordered this book because I have always been a fan of Alice in Wonderland, the cartoon as well as all the adaptations. However, I am ashamed to admit, at 22, I have never read the book. I just received it yesterday in the mail, and it is just a beautiful book! My husband almost didn't want me to read it because he says it should be on display! It has a beautiful pink hardcover with the picture in black and gold. The pages are gold gilded and there is one of the classic golden ribbon bookmarks attached to the binding. The book is about 2.5 inches thick. Consisting of:

Introduction
I. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
II. Through the Looking Glass
III. Sylvie and Bruno
IV. Sylvie and Bruno Concluded
V. Verse
The Hunting of the Snark
Early Verse
Puzzles from Wonderland
Prologues to Plays
Phantasmagoria
College Rhymes and Notes by an Oxford Chiel
Acrostics, Inscriptions, and Other Verse
Three Sunsets and Other Poems
VI. Stories
VII. A Miscellany
Index of First Lines of Verse

I was a little weary of purchasing this book, because I was worried the writing would be somewhat cryptic. I started reading this morning, have gotten about 30 pages in, and has been a fairly easy read!! I am not usually a fan of Introductions; however, I found this one rather informative, and made understanding of the text. It's definitely worth the buy, and would be a fond family heirloom!!
