I was very disappointed in this book. I am an elementary art teacher, and was looking for resources to bring the work of this wonderful artist to kids. There were no reviews yet of the book, and no inside views, so I unfortunately took a risk. First of all, since it is part of a series of books that introduces artists and their artwork to children, I was surprised that some of the images chosen for the book included somewhat erotic nudity. Due to these images, I cannot show the book to my elementary students; I risk getting fired! I know much of Klimt's work DOES contain eroticism and nudity, but those images should not be in a book aimed at kids. Second of all, the title "A Painted Fairy Tale" led me to believe the text would be geared for kids. It was not. It is too difficult for youngsters, and not at a level they would understand if I read it to them. There is no attempt to relate Klimt's work and life to the fairy tale alluded to in the title. If you are an adult looking to learn about Klimt, fine. The quality of reproductions is good, and the text is informative. If you plan to use it with kids, as I did, don't waste your money. What a disappointment!
